This is really disturbing. And strange. Disturbingly strange.

Man who ate dog suffers blurred vision

A 21-YEAR-OLD man's vision mysteriously deteriorated after he ate a dog that he killed in a fit of anger, reported Tamil Kural.

The report said the man, identified only as Selvam, from Kudiyatham in Tamil Nadu, had returned home for lunch and became angry when he found that the dog had gone into the kitchen and knocked down the meal prepared by his wife.

He beat the dog to death with a stick, then cooked and ate it.

A while later, he started vomiting and had diarrhoea. The family rushed him to a nearby government hospital.

Selvam, who regretted killing the dog and eating it, said his vision had blurred while his hands and legs had become weak.

:shk:

People really are weird.

Good. I hope he loses use of them!

I really can't grasp what would drive someone to beat a dog to death then have the bright idea of cooking and eating it?

Your right, some people are just plain weird.

It's funny how eating dogs is considered so wrong in our culture, but eating cows/coats/birds isn't. Where's the logic in that? Where do you draw the line on what kind of creature you will or will not eat?

I consider all creatures to be a potential food source, especially in a time of need.
As much as I love my house cats, they would be on the menu in a survival situation. After all these years of feeding and careing for them, if troubled times were upon us, they can feed me. Though dog has never been on my plate, I wouldn't say no if it was served to me.
I eat veal and lamb, and a fuzzy bunny is cute to play with, but it's tastey too.

I can't pass judgement on anyone for what they eat.

From a muslim point of view, all is game except for members of the boar/pig family AND large predators. Something about large predators having toxins that are not good for the body or something... I'm not too sure.

You know what, if I'm not mistaken there's a criteria to what sort of predators are off limits. Off the top of my head I think if they kill with their claws -- out. Talons -- out. Damn.. I forgot what else.

Meh, later when I remember.

BUT, there are exceptions, of course. The exception is the exact scenario anxietyD described just now. In times where survival required it.
