(especially looking for the views of reigious folks)

“...What kind of craziness is it in our society which will put a cloak of secrecy around a group of people whose lifestyle is at best abominable. Homosexuality is an abomination. The practices of those people is appalling. It is a pathology. It is a sickness, and instead of thinking of giving these people a preferred status and privacy, we should treat AIDS exactly the same way as any other communicable disease...” - 700 Club, 6-6-88

"[Homosexuals]want to come into churches and disrupt church services and throw blood all around and try to give people AIDS and spit in the face of ministers." Pat Robertson, 700 Club, 1/18/95 -

"...the acceptance of homosexuality is the last step in the decline of Gentile civilization." --Pat Robertson, of the Christian Broadcasting Network, warned that hurricanes could hit Orlando, Fla., because of gay events there. Time magazine, Oct 26, 1998

“If the world accepts homosexuality as its norm and if it moves the entire world in that regard, the whole world is then going to be sitting like Sodom and Gomorrah before a Holy God. And when the wrath of God comes on this earth, we will all be guilty and we will all suffer for
it.” - 700 Club, 9-6-95

“It’s one thing to say, `We have rights to jobs...we have rights to be left alone in out little corner of the world to do our thing.’ It’s an entirely different thing to say, well, `We’re not only going to go into the schools and we’re going to take your children and your grandchildren
and turn them into homosexuals.’ Now that’s wrong.” - 700 Club, 9-17-92

"[Gays seek] to destroy all Christians." - People for the American Way, "Hostile Climate," 1994, p.9.

Just some of those quotes you spoke of. This guy, like Bush, and basically all republicans and conservatives, give Christianity a bad name.

He's a sick twisted devil worshiper under the disguise of Christianity.

That about sums it up.

Regardless of what you think of Rev. Pat, he speaks for an enormous segment of the American populace, And they hang on his every word.

I would have thought that his outrageous statements would have been ridiculed in the MSM soundly but but they only make cursory references to him.

I feel his bizarre statements are calculated to create divisions in America and ultimately polarize the society till sectarian/secular violence spills into the streets of this country. A planned conspiracy to divide and conquer.

I may be overly paranoid; but I'm prepared and in a perverse way I'm looking forward to it. Bring it!! We will see who really has God on their side.

Have a nice day!

DavinS, you missed a few.

Pat Robertson
If Christian people work together, they can succeed during this decade in winning back control of the institutions that have been taken from them over the past 70 years. Expect confrontations that will be not only unpleasant but at times physically bloody.... This decade will not be for the faint of heart, but the resolute. Institutions will be plunged into wrenching change. We will be living through one of the most tumultuous periods of human history. When it is over, I am convinced God's people will emerge victorious.

and

Pat Robertson
The Constitution of the United States, for instance, is a marvelous document for self-government by the Christian people. But the minute you turn the document into the hands of non-Christian people and atheistic people they can use it to destroy the very foundation of our society. And that's what's been happening.

Funny guy.....funny funny guy

For Idiots like Pat Robertson, It's all about money, power, and who has the biggest following - I believe he MAY have started out with good intentions, and he may still actually believe he's doing good or what he 'thinks' is God's work. But the money and power has gone to his head and if he does believe in what he's preaching, then some "Demons"
have gotten a-hold of him and he doesn't even realize it.

That man has so many little old ladies sending him their Social Security Income because he's frightened them into thinking they will go to hell without supporting him, and he's duped them into thinking if they do support him, they will somehow be protected from all the evil in the world - Like hurricanes cause by Gays.

If you'd actually never seen him or heard of him, and tuned into his program one day, you wouldn't think anything of it - He does a little chatting, does a little praying, does a little "healing" - reads a little viewer mail - then engages in ALOT of commercialism. But when you look at his work over the years, like DevinS quoted above, you can see that the man is using hate and fear to spread and keep intolerance alive and well.

He calls himself a 'Christian' - and pretty much looks and acts the part, but his words show the world he's something else - Yeah, he's got that calm gentle voice, and he looks enough like a kind old man you'd expect to be a preacher- a Church Elder you can look to for advice and guidance. But he uses his power over the sheep that follow him to incite hatred and violence against anything he doesn't consider appropriate. He's called for the assassination of a world leader (but I thought thou shalt not kill) and he spreads lies based on myths and stereotypes about other cultures (and I thought thou shalt not bare false witness)

I personally think the man is an Idiot, but apparently he's smart enough to have a multi-million dollar following. Too bad it's at the cost of little old ladies pensions and people gullible enough to fall into his 'guilt-trip' brand of religion and his 'jump-on-the-bandwagon-of-hate" message.

But there are some signs that he’s losing his grip – at least his grip on people’s ‘religious’ money. As seen on his show ( I have to peek sometimes, otherwise I have no right to complain ) now he’s started to get money another way, yes folks, he’s now on one of the biggest, yet most successful rip-offs known to man, the DIET REVOLUTION! He knows his target audience is people who hardly ever get off the couch (I’d have to be in a coma to sit through his whole program) So he’s started to make them feel bad about their weight - and now he offers a solution! His very own brand of dietary supplements and signature diet foods – If people can’t see through that little song and dance just to get at their money, then there’s no hope for the ‘sheeple’ that follow him.

If people really believe that man is a true Christian, then I’ve got a WHOLE BUNCH of ocean-front property in Arizona I’d like to sell ‘em.

10 years ago I would have said that his following was getting older and dying off so nothing to worry about. For some reason though there has been a huge movement to get young (under 18) followers into his group. I work with local high school students in my very red state and he is more well known then I would have thought. Many of these kids talk about living a Christlike exsistence. That phrase is the golden comment of Fundies like Robertson.

While I thought this country was getting better we have had a huge slide into the past. Not sure if these kids will continue to support nut cases like Robertson or if they will become more tolerant as they age. I fear a new wave of voting fundamentalist is rising in our country and things may not get any better.

an uncle of mine, whose house i now live in, once called and threatened mr. robertson so bad that some government people came to have a chat with him. i unfortunately found this out after his death, but had i heard before, it would have been an interesting conversation. i watch the 700 club, waiting for pat to say something, so i can post on stupid evil bastard about it, but it doesn't happen often. he's smart enough to keep it to a few shows a year.

Car, there are some mighty big hypocrites here in ATS but I swear, you take the cake!!!

Do you have selective memory or is your mind so clouded by your distorted conservative ideology that you have forgotten the constant harang on the Clintons, Kerry, Gore, Jackson etc. by yourself and the other keyboard conservatives here.

Not to mention the mooks on the radio like rush, savage, etc and on TV like oreally.

Conservatives wrote the book on target practice on those they don't like. Rev. Pat also has his favorite targets too, don't forget.

Quit whining!!!!

Like any good BBQ - well done! What an NWO salesman! Effective like Willy Loman. A good fist fight between Chavez and Robertson would be PPV heaven! Seagulls on French (Oops "Freedom") Fries. A great undercard would be Dr. Friedman vs Dick "Chicanery" Cheney.

Don't forget this one.

"It is interesting, that termites don't build things, and the great builders of our nation almost to a man have been Christians, because Christians have the desire to build something. He is motivated by love of man and God, so he builds. The people who have come into (our) institutions (today) are primarily termites. They are into destroying institutions that have been built by Christians, whether it is universities, governments, our own traditions, that we have.... The termites are in charge now, and that is not the way it ought to be, and the time has arrived for a godly fumigation."--Pat Robertson, New York Magazine, August 18, 1986

See not only does he wan't to rid the world of Homosexuals, but he wants to commit genocide to the non-Christians! What a pathetic Hitler wannabe... e.e;

Pat Robertson is not a benevolent church going religious leader....

he is a very shrewd businessman who own Diamond mines in Africa, uses the 700 club to generate massive amounts of cash and cash flow which he uses to finance other Business ventures.
He cheated several people out of the 700 club, i believe jim and tammy baker were part of the group he ripped off.

follow the money, honey
