Most Plausible Alien Movies?

I am kind of surprised no one has mentioned The Mothman Prophecies,
A very interesting film.

star trek first contact. especialy the end part were the vulcans land makes me hope I will have the same possiblity soon to meet extra terrestial entities.

I prefer the Alien series, the whole lot of them (even Alien vs Predator).

Anyone remember The Last Starfighter? I remember seeing that when I was a kid. I could not believe that Grig was showing Alex his family pictures with an electronic photo album - wow! Now we all have them, iPods!!! Give it a few years and what we imagine becomes reality...

Also, another older one, also a little corny was Enemy Mine. I liked the idea that mutual cooperation to survive was necessary, after they were both stranded on the planet.

1971 classic The Andromeda Strain - presented a realistic scenario where "bugs" were brought back by a probe not entirely unlike the Horizon mission (which smashed into the desert floor in an uncontrolled return/re-entry - oops).

The movie was a "straight-up" what if cliff-hanger featuring notions of underground bunkers with nuclear self-destruct and a number of well explored human moral issues as they will pertain to "other" contact. At the time it was pretty good, not Kubrick-class, but good and plausible.

I am throwing in another title.. Flash gordon ( with music from the band Queen)

war of the worlds (old and new version but mainly the old one because there the aliens land)

ID4 - aka independence day ... because of the showing of the crafts entering our atmosphere and coming out of the clouds with fire and thunder just like the description in of mozes and the 10 commitments on the mountain ararat. Stil amaced by the fact that the description of god coming to mozes and the images of this movie looking so close and familiar.
