ATS Wargames Take 2: Scenario 1

This is the scenario for our wargame. Please do not post any moves at this time, as it will not officially start until I return on Wed. After my return I will post the official turn schedule.

Players, please keep posts in this thread to the scenario.

Main rule for the game is that a nuclear attack automatically ends the game. All other actions will be judged, and determined if they are possible. There is almost no limit on actions allowed, but please try not to be TOO outrageous with them. (ie: iran launching a missile attack on Russia, just because they're in a bad mood.)


**Breaking News from CNN**

A British Airways 747 carrying the British, American, and Japanese Ambassadors has crashed in Africa. The flight was heading to South Africa for a special meeting on the Crisis in Africa. A USAF E-3 AWACS was in the area, and reports several anonmalous readings in the area of the plane before it crashed. Rescuers have reported no survivors as yet, but search operations are still underway.

The Pentagon has just reported that the radar data shows a pair of what appear to be Russian built SU-27 fighter/bombers near the 747 shortly before the crash. They are examining the radar tapes further to determine where exactly the fighters came from. It appears at this time that the 747 was deliberately brought down.

More details are coming out as times goes on. For unknown reasons the flight was diverted off shore from Eritrea, and off established air routes before the crash. Most of the wreckage is in deeper waters and will probably never be recovered. The USN is sending a salvage ship to the area in an attempt to recover what they can of the wreckage.

There will be further news as it becomes available.

The Eritrean Governments' Statement,

We have mobilised our naval fleet consisting of 30 boats (of unknown description) to aid the countries who have so tragically lost their ambassadors.

We would like to point out that although we possess su-27's we were in no way linked to this terrible attack and we were not conducting any excercises in the area ruling out the possibility of an accident.

As my government has always stated we support the change in Africa as it may bring in investment ,creating much needed development and jobs.

We have our own theories on who carried out this attack and will follow our own lines of enquiry hopefully with UN support ,I wish to add I hope our friends will aid us if for any reason we are used as a scapegoat and attacked for no reason in these most unfortunate times.

We would once again like to send out our condolences to the families of the international dignatries involved,The Eritrean peoples prayers are with you.

This disaster is truly tragic, but people of the world, and my people of Korea, do not be fulled by the smiling faces of the United States. They try to pass blame to others, say it was Russia, but it is most assuredly the United States that has done the damage. Breaking News from Iran:

The Iranian President today made a short but to the point speech to the citizens of Iran. He denied any involvement in the downing of flight 10001 and reiterated that his country was prepared and ready in the event the illegal Zionist dogs or their lackeys in the west try to justify an attack upon the nation using this incident. He further claimed the divine light that once shone upon him is now shining on the entire nation of Iran and the Mahdi is soon to come. He commanded all the people of Iran to pray for just this event.

The Government of South Korea and its people send are deepest condolences to the families of those who have died.

That being said, let it be known that the Government of our great country wholehartedly condemns the actions of these monsters. We are willing to offer any help we can in this situation, either for rescue or the follow-up investigations.

We call for those responsible to be dealt with in the harshest way possible. We for one hope this was not a sanctioned act by any country, as this would be considered an act of war and should be dealt with as such.

I just hope we can unite under this horrible incident and show are true colors.

***Breaking News***

Reuters is reporting that the German Chancellor Angela Merkel gave a short speech today concerning the loss of BA flight 10001.

“To those affected in this tragedy I have this to say. On behalf of all the German people I extend to you our prayers and support through this difficult time. We will also offer our assistance to any investigation if asked, and we recommend to all nations not to rush to any conclusion concerning the matter until an investigation is done.”

Reports at this time are suggesting that Chancellor Merkel has contacted several key ally nation to discuss the implications of this incident and to offer support to ally nations involved. More from Germany as it becomes available.

Breaking news from CNN.

The Pentagon has released data showing that the two SU-27s were launched from a small airfield inside Eritrea. The airfield is one that is not used by the Eritrean military, so at this time it is not known who the fighters belonged to. The NSA is examining intercepts from around the time of the shootdown to try to determine who they belonged to. There is evidence that Iran is responsble for the incident in an attempt to make Eritrea look responsible. However, this has yet to be confirmed.

Breaking story:

In a news conference that ended a few moments ago the President of Iran denounced the findings of the preliminary investigation and stated emphatically that the nation of Iran had nothing to do with the downing of the diplomats plane. He further stated that this ploy by the illegitimate state of Israel and its lackeys and puppets in the United States government were plainly meant to justify an attack on his nation. In a direct quote he stated, “We will defend ourselves against the aggressors in every way at our disposal. We will shut down the Straits of Hormuz, Mine the waters of our coasts and shut down the oil supply from ALL the Middle East if this aggression is allowed.” He then walked quickly away to join the top rank and file of the Iranian military who were discussing the findings of the investigation.

The Pentagon has released a report stating that Eritrea and North Korea have are close to signing a military agreement. Eritrea will be shipping food to North Korea in return for an unknown number of submarines. The Whte House has strongly protested ths agreement, stating that it totally changes the balance of power in Afrca.

In other news, the Russian government has admtted that weapons grade plutonium is missing from one of their storage facilities. It is unknown what happened to the materials, but it is said to be enough for three Hiroshma sized weapons. The Pentagon is deeply worried by this development, and is asissting Russia in the search for the material.

North Korean News (NKN) Special Annoucement

In a special NKN News Annoucement, President Kim Jung Il spoke out about the accusations against Iran being responsible for the attack on the commercial airliner.

"The American imperialistics are looking for more oil to feed theyre bloodthirsty mouths! I, and all of North Korea firmly stand by Iran and it's innocents. How many wars can you build on lies, Imperialistists?"

Kim Jung Il went on to say he firmly supports Iran, and claims that the American lies will simply fall onto deaf ears in the end.

Jung-Il later commented on the trade between Eritea and North Korea.

"The trade of much needed perishable commodities was needed, and to show a sign of good will, North Korea freely traded several of our military assets to strengthen the defense of Eritea against hostile forces."

***Breaking News***

AP is reporting that just a few moment ago the German Chancellor answered several questions to reporters about Iran's recent threats and statements.

Reporter: “Chancellor what do you make of Iran's recent threat that it will block Middle East oil supply?”

Merkel: “I think its very irresponsible and foolish, instead of making irrational threats Iran should focus on alleviating world fears about its recent behavior.”

Reporter: “How would Germany respond if such a scenario did play out?”

Merkel: “Well, its very difficult to make any concrete decision now, I would just say however that we would join and work together with our closest allies to find the best solution if indeed such a problem should arise.”

The Pentagon has released two new NSA Reports. It has been determined that the two SU-27s were flown by Eritrean pilots. It is still not known who hired them, but it appears that the planes were Eritrean. They were supposed to be on a routine training mission on the day of the incident. The investigation is continuing to determine who hired the pilots.

In another report it was determined that the missing plutonium in Russia s still in the country. Several Russian workers from the plant where it was stolen from were arrested recently, and the plutonium found in a transport case. No word on where they were going with it, or why they stole it yet however.

In a shocking turn of events, North and South Korea today announced a new alliance between the two countries. South Korea announced that all US forces have 15 days to begin leaving the country, and all basing rights have been revoked.

"In a North Korean Press Conference, where both Kim Jung Il, and the South Korean President was attending, Kim Jung Il spoke out to reveal the mutile reunitation of the Koreas. In his conference, he announced that North and South Korea would join together to form one new Korea, the NEW PEOPLES PRINCIPALITY of KOREA (NPPK.)

"It has been many years since our families have broken apart. In a time of tribulation, it is necessary for us to repair the binds that have been broken. It is necessary, for the safety of our people, and the security of both of mighty nations, for us to join back together, to bring Korea back to its glory. SAR efforts :

USS Oak Hill ('___' 51) is ordered to leave station [ indian ocean ] and make maximum speed to djibouti

the marine garrison @ djibouti will supply the bulk of the aircraft and personell

additional helicopters and personel [ as needed ] will be tasked from Nassau Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) and [22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) (SOC)]

they will operate from temporary forward bases in jakar [ red sea coast of Saudi Arabia ]

1 effect the rescue of any live survovors
2 properly recover any remains and return them to next of kin
3 gather evidence of who is responsible

Germany urges Eritrea to hand over the pilots and equipment in question to the US, this must be done so the world community can get to the bottom of this matter. The support and aid of the EU could be at risk if Eritrea does not comply and cooperate.

Principality of Korea News (PKN Station 3)

The New Peoples Principality of Korea, in response to the Americans viral propaganda campaign in the southern part of Korea, initializes a set of it's own campaigns.
