4. Wait, stop right there. You say I have limited logic on UFOs. I have presented my reasons for believing. You made ZERO attempts to scrutinize my reasons. My reasons for believing are also pretty typical among nearly all ATS UFO believers. Are you also saying that all of us are hanging on to illogical reasons for believing?

You will just never GET it. If you're young you may have a chance. You need to let all that info in your head settle, calm down a bit and relax. You don't make sense! I am not the only one who says it. You however, are the only one who makes the claims towards me. You are a day late and dollar short.

I will not be reply to your next, fruitless, last word. So when you reply ignorance again, just know that it is meaningless. I have moved on... You are still stuck. Good lucking putting it all together. It will (like I said before) be a bumpy ride. Stay positive throughout. AAC

Sodium,
Allow me to retort to your wonderfully redundant self observation. Funny, the things you claimed about the girl you know, actually is Exactly what you, yourself are doing.

What a brilliant retort. Allow me to re-retort: Funny the things you claim about me is actually exactly what you, yourself, are doing. Witty?

I was right in saying your name was a psychotropic medication. How else would truth serum work other than stimulating the cerebral cortex? I don't feel the need to give you a full on synapsis on how exactly it works.

You are quick to jump the gun here and you were hoping I incriminated myself, as you seem so obsessed in bringing me down. Is this about Paranormal, me, or just an opportunity to validate yourself via your self-proclaimed "brilliant" psychoanalyses? Either way, sorry to remind you, but I made no claim that thiopental sodium was not a psychotropic medication. Your current strategy, I suspect, is to continue to rail me with ad hominem attacks. You still haven't answered why you continue to do so. I'll entertain these attacks for now though. You seek validation, just like how every human being does (myself included). Anyway, back to your psychotropic argument (which is not really an argument). You were attempting to suggest that I chose my username because I'm a druggie. At least that what you were attempting to appear like, but of course, since you never used specific language, you could just as easily say you weren't. What matters though is the subcommunication you convey. To that, I EMPHASIZED, not corrected, that thiopental sodium is truth serum. I'm not sure if you failed to see all this or you're just trying to reframe my posts. Either way, it's clear to me you're not the typical ATS poster, so congratulations that you've gotten my validation. Feel better about yourself now?

As far as head trips go, it has nothing to do with drug use whatsoever. Some people just get a thrill out of trying to make themselves feel more powerful, by trying to make those who believe in the unconventional as silly or absurd, to raise themselves up above them. (I applaud you for not smoking, or doing drugs, but does it make a doodle of a difference to me nah.)

Yes, some people do. I'm not doing that. Also, you have no reason to make this claim. You're assuming that anyone who disagrees with Paranormal is this type of person. What kind of psycoanalysis is that lol??? Horrible.
Also, did you miss the completely huge chunk of this thread where I make it very clear that I am believer of many of unconventional/silly/absurd things (as deemed by non-believers)? I made those statements so I wouldn't get people like you assuming that anyone who questions the unconventional are just trying to boost their own egos. I guess my pre-emptive statement failed to reach you.

Don't think I'm trying to throw out my IQ as a matter of trying to make you feel inferior, it was you that started off with "Im in MENSA and that test was too easy for me." I felt the need to make you realize, you weren't the only intelligent one out there.
And need I remind you, Jeffrey Dahmer, Charles Manson, David Burkowitz, all had IQ's high enough to be in MENSA.

Of course that's why you threw your IQ out there. You felt threatened by my IQ so you reacted. Perfectly natural. You're also still totally misunderstanding why I threw my IQ out there in the first place.

As far as socialization goes, trust me honey, I was one of the original club kids from the NYC club scene. "Party Monster"
Was basically a story about friends of mine. I have no problem with extroverted people. I do have a problem with people trying to make me feel inferior because I don't share the same mainstream beliefs as them.
IE your statement on most of your beliefs being mainstream.

Whoa, stop right there. You obviously did not understand my point about mainstream beliefs (and for the record, I make no judgment calls on people based on how underground/mainstream their beliefs are...I have no idea how you came up with that...socially conditioned way of thinking?). You're reading too much into it, Party Monster. Oh, and yes, I accept your apology for blindly pegging me as a shallow extrovert.

"I'm not lining everyone up in Paranormal as gullible. I'm saying there is an unusually high concentration of gullible people there. Take a look at menguard's 33+ page thread"
Considering this is the "PARANORMAL STUDIES" area of ATS.com, there probably are quite a few that do believe in phenomenon. It wouldn't take a genius to figure out that we who believe in phenomenon wouldn't group together in PTS.

OK, what does ANY of this have to do with ANYTHING? And why are you pointing out that ATSers probably don't group together for politics? This doesn't even remotely interest me!

"Completely unsubstantiated personal attacks on me, man"
Hmm seems like the pot calling the kettle black I'd say. Considering you referred to me as "Poophead"and "Charlatan"

You're going to have to explain your idiom of pots and kettles to me. Cuz it's not helping me see how you're not a charlatan. As for poophead, I hope you didn't take that literally. Because then you'd be one smelly phenomenon, and you should send your pseudo-psychoarse straight to Cryptozoology.

Oh and btw, I wasn't that far off the mark when I said you studied psychology, you yourself in your retort said you were a finance major who dabbled in psychology and could write books about it.

So what? Does me dabbling in psychology on the side have anything to do with anything, or is this another transparent attempt to validate yourself? Why are you so desperate for attention? Do you miss your Party Monster days (I also hope you're not confusing recklessness with actual socializing skills)? I know this isn't about you "protecting" Paranormal lol.

Not trying to psychoanalyze you, just pointing out the inconsistancies in your defense,

What inconsistencies? Please, I'm curious as to what they are. Unless you're referring to how inconsistent I am with the stereotypes you guys have pegged me with. Way to go with stereotyping people, e.g. guys who disagree with believes of the unconventional, DJs, extroverts, and the list goes on. Is this what your confidence is based on?

how well of a finance major are you if youre DJing?
"Attended UCSD (University of San Diego, California).""Graduated high school with a perfect 4.0"- It dont mean that you graduated college, and heck for that matter you could be working in a bank for all we know.(Another Name for Gas Station Attendant is Petroleum Specialist)

OK, you've gotten me to really qualify myself here, which I normally don't do, but now you're getting really personal. I'll answer these personal questions just one more time, but anyone who makes these stupid politician-type requests one more time and I'm out, regardless of how entertaining they are. Firstly, you assume I'm a finance major. Secondly, I did graudate college. Thirdly, I don't work for Charles Schwab or Merrill Lynch, but I can't be any more specific because I want to remain anonymous on the Internet...but you can make guesses as to what other major financial institution I work (and manage) for. Fourthly, WHAT THE HELL DOES ANY OF MY PERSONAL LIFE HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH ANY OF THIS? If you're trying to play politics by trying to find a personal flaw in me, YOU ARE DISGUSTING. But again, it is consistent with your overcompensating, over-confident persona.

On top of which, how can you possibly be that successful of a dj if you live in San Diego, and during the hours when you should be spinning on a Saturday night, you're here, trying to disprove psychic phenomenon?

I am ill you presumptuous politician. You should post in PTS instead of ATS.

Oh and one more thing before I go, trust me, I have no problem telling people what I see, I call it as I see it. No BS, no sugar coating, just the bottom line. I can't answer for anyone else, but, I know for a fact that if we were sitting down, I'd have no problem telling you exactly what I just did in person.

Good to know I'm not dealing with an Internet persona. There's a lot of these here.

Now, are we going to continue to talk about myself or about the need for evidence before reaching conclusions? Don't prove me right again by posting more personal attacks that are blatant attempts to resteer this thread. I'm not exaggerating when I say it is DISGUSTING for ATSers to play politics.

More baseless assertions from you over and over. Why don't you ever make at least a single explanation? You sound like a 5th grader in a playground who don't know how to have a discussion and just resort to "just because I said so."

Also, didn't you say you hit "ignore" on me a while back? Good luck with that.

thiopental sodium, I don't get it.....

You take what people say and slightly twist and tweak it until it isn't what they said anymore, then you take that and reply in an arrogant manner.
How do you expect to get any kind of logical discussion going that way?

I read every post, every word, on all 3 pages. One person agreed with you, does that tell you anything?

My final response to you Sodium

You assume I am some idiot that did not understand what yout post was about. I never once stated that I disagree with the fact some people are gullible.

It is your attitude and your fanatical one-sided beliefs, that those who have an interest in the paranormal or believe whatever they choose, implies or proves they are gullible and dense.. A conclusion you came to, because what one person may "believe" isn't what you would believe.

You seem to think you have made some brilliant discovery that "people are gullible", and came in here to enlighten us, about your brilliant dicovery. Aren't you the hero. Pin a medal to your chest. Bravo !!

Those are my sentiments exactly! He can only hear himself. It's like he just had a discussion in a speech/debate class and his "favorite" professor took the same position (But he probably made sense). By the way, the one person on this thread that did agree with Sodium, had retracted and clarified that Sodium (once again) took someone out of context to make himself right. AAC

Unfortunately I wasn't online for a day so I didn't get to respond, and I'm too lazy to read 3 pages of flaming, so I'll just give my response to some of the initial statements.

But to prove my point, this thread shows that you guys need to demand evidence before just blindly believing anything.

That's what I did.

I wonder how far I could have taken you guys. 60 pages maybe?

No, because you wouldn't have met the stipulations I stated.

You guys are being TOOLED big time by menguard in that HIGHER LIGHT ANSWERS 33+ page thread.

I don't believe the thread. I haven't even bothered to read it much. Although I do have an entire book called "Conversations With God" that was "channelled" from "God".

To me, I know that it none of this is provable any more. I just accept that and consider the 'what if' scenario, in the slight chance that some things are actually true. More important to me is the message something conveys now, much like how a good sci-fi show or movie can open your mind to new ideas or concepts, although you know it's not real.

You took the worst possible approach to proving your point: acting like a total jackass. Which doesn't make you any better than the "blind believers". And frankly, I hope you get banned sir.

And you didn't fool anybody the first time anyways, you got sent to BTS, thus affirming that what you said was ridiculous. You only got some kind of response this time because you were entirely vague and gave no specifics at all.

Once again, I shall explain in the simplest of terms to you that no I wasn't implying you did drugs, get over it. Anyone that names themselves after a medication used by agencies to make their enemies confess says you may know something about psychology. Either that or you just thought it sounded cool. Don't worry, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Of course that's why you threw your IQ out there. You felt threatened by my IQ so you reacted. Perfectly natural. You're also still totally misunderstanding why I threw my IQ out there in the first place.

Threatened by someone who lives on the other side of the country as me, that is nothing more than a bit of gunk in cyberspace, right now? Please. I'm more threatened by the tupperware container that is in the back of my fridge. I'm having fun going tit for tat with you. I've had a rough couple of days and nothing makes me feel better right now, than aggravating the hell out of you.

Oh, and yes, I accept your apology for blindly pegging me as a shallow extrovert.
Oh sorry, you must be mistaken. What you misconstrue as an apology was actually sarcasm. It's just really hard to add emphasis on facial expressions over cyberspace.

OK, what does ANY of this have to do with ANYTHING? And why are you pointing out that ATSers probably don't group together for politics? This doesn't even remotely interest me!

I was using it as an example of why you may find quite a few believing in psychic phenomenon here. WHy you may find alot of "gullible" people in that thread. Not because they're gullible, but because it's an appropriate place to share beliefs.

As for poophead, I hope you didn't take that literally. Because then you'd be one smelly phenomenon, and you should send your pseudo-psychoarse straight to Cryptozoology.

Does this even warrant a response? We can go there, f a bunch of niceties. I got 55 ways of telling you youre breathing precious air that someone who deserves it could be breathing.

Does me dabbling in psychology on the side have anything to do with anything, or is this another transparent attempt to validate yourself?
Nope, just stating an observation is all. That you may just have a leg up on trying to push peoples buttons.

What inconsistencies? Please, I'm curious as to what they are.

Every single thing you have been replying to. You'll post one thing, and when someone calls you on it, you immediately twist it to how it suits you.

I am ill you presumptuous politician. You should post in PTS instead of ATS.

Oooh more name calling, you panty waste

I'm not exaggerating when I say it is DISGUSTING for ATSers to play politics.

You are so right on this one, maybe you should cut it out too.

Now would you care to actually hear a response to your thread? Or if you'd like we can keep going back and forth. Makes no difference to me. I'm having fun with this.

As far as the other side is concerned, I've had alot of experiences. That is usually what drives people to believe there is more to life than what we can see with our reasonable brain. It is what sealed the deal for me.
If you have an experience that is profound, it tends to change the way of thinking for most.

Mine was a large, dark, winged creature in the corner of my room, and a choir of children singing. I also have heard cattle being slaughtered in the house where Im at, before I knew it was a cattle farm back in the 1800's. Have a conversation with someone thats passed, hear them as if they were next to you talking, and see if you don't start to question reality.

Thio Hi
I reread page 1 as you stated before, and None of the reply's fell for your
scheme as you stated they did, They All simply Asked for Proof, that however was in no way shape or form, admitting that indeed they believed you what so ever!

So once again, I stick by my first statement! I think you didn't know we would be as thorough as we are, in showing You We Did Not Fall for your statement! I think you made a Big Goof and now that I exposed that On Page 2 and again Now, your trying to show Someone Believed You Had Them, when in fact No One Did!
Go back and reread page One, they simply stated IF you do, Prove IT!
No way was that saying they believed you!

I think It Was You, That wanted to be a real Hoaxer and Lie to us All from the Get Go,so people would think your Special, That You Had Powers, and when you found out We Were Not Easily Fooled, than you said it was a Test so to speak, to see who would believe you! That's when you got Caught Plain & Simple! Say No More, Your Foot is Already In Your Mouth, Sorry To Say! lol

Right Everybody, Right,Right,Right!

I am starting in on this thread late, and at the beginning, and not reading through the whole thing, (I will later) (so if I say anything anyone else said further on in the thread, sorry wasn't trying to copy you). Thio you asked:

quote:
If I were to claim to have paranormal psychic powers, how would I convince you guys that I really do have these powers?

First of all, you don't need to convince me because I tend to believe people, (until they tell me differently) I have had unusual Psi experiences...why shouldn't other people? But if you were trying to convince people who were more sceptical...Then if you worked with an established expert who is recognized in the Paranormal Community for having whatever para/psi powers you are talking about and this expert confirmed that you also had these same powers...that would be convincing to all but the most hard nosed of sceptics. If, no single expert is available if enough people Psi gifted or otherwise would provide testimony to having witnessed whatever your Psi feats may be, then by a preponderance of the evidence, I would say that also would be enough. But the most important person you have to prove it to is yourself. And, you can do that by practicing Psi and getting out there and experiencing more.

By even posing that question is it in essence saying we can't trust each other here, we can't say anything unless we can provide evidence of it? And you assume we will not believe you? At some Paranormal websites I have been we were instructed (under the threat of being banned), not to openly state that we disbelieved in each others stories of Psi experiences, because the board was to be a haven from disbelievers. Then everyone could let their hair down and be themselves, it made for a nice environment. Now, a couple people made up stories that weren't true, because they admitted to me they did, because they were pressured to tell Ghost Stories, etc. by the Hostess constantly, but it was more pleasant to believe everyone was telling the truth (at least on the surface..no one can actually make us believe in something if we feel its not true) and not be openly skeptical or dubious of someone's story, than it would be to go the other way, and only have stories told that could be absolutely proven, and call anyone who couldn't prove their story a big fibber. I would say though that I felt a high percentage of the stories were true, whether a person actually saw a ghost or not, or other phenomenon..I felt most were being truthful..it's just that sometimes the people themselves weren't sure what they saw or experienced. It just cuts way down on the spirit of exploration when there is too much scepticism if you know what I mean. Psi gifted people have received enough scepticism from people all their lifes.

Worldwatcher wisely said:

Quote:
"btw...you have to prove the verifiable before people will consider believing the unverifiable. hope that makes sense to you."

That makes sense to me Worldwatcher because, for instance I don't have to prove the existence of say a Taco before I can talk about one...because most people have eaten a Taco, or have seen Tacos. But, a lot of people haven't had some of the different Paranormal experiences many people here have...so they need it proven...until all aspects of Psi are as commonplace as a Taco, Psi gifted people need to come out of the closet with it, and talk more about it, and do many more public events. And people who don't know how to do Psi need to learn how to do it themselves, or see more people on TV doing it. I think because of all the Mediums being on TV lately, most people believe in Mediums, now. Oh..the power of television! Exposure is the key: So, prove the easiest things first like RV and telepathy and work your way up to PK.

And, I have to ask you Thio...what paranormal psychic powers do you have that you wish to convice us of? I promise I will not be openly disbelieving of you, especially if you are not openly disbelieving of me and the other members here.

So, in other words you're saying that you don't need to explain the reasons behind your beliefs because they are shared by many other people. Basically, you're relying on most people's perceptions to verify your beliefs as true. Ironically, this is the same logic that would prove menguard's knowledge to be true in his thread - most of the people in the thread believe him, therefore what he says must be the truth.
