Hey all, lately i've been reading several separate accounts from several sources about alleged feats of levitation, usually involving megalithic stone. All the accounts seem to have one thing in common, sound. Throughout history there have been several mentions of manipulating stone with sound, suggesting soemthing to do with acoustic vibrations having an effect that would allow for magnetic alteration in crystalline structures.

My question (and yes, i did search, for days for an answer) is has anyone attempted to verify or disprove the theory in a lab? The last reports i've found of this SVP effect was back in th 30's one example being the Coral Castle.

So, does anyone have any references to successes and failures in the area of harmonically vibrating a mass containing crystalline structure and attempting to cause a change in state, mass, or volume?

Thanks in advance for any info. I'm considering some simple experiments with sound, magnetism, and a granite block to see if i can observe any effect through a range of frequencies of sound.

Verify what specifically? This seems very generic to say 'sound'. What kind of sound, frequency, amplitude, period, etc? Through what kind of medium?

In order to help you on your way to experimenting might I suggest you brush up on special functions, calculus and some physics, if you already haven't.

Heres a page where a guy did his own experiments in sonic levitation, and reverse lev. Its not very impressive when thinking about 20 ton stones floating around like bumper cars, but its a start.

I dont think anyone's tried to recreate, say.. the Tibetan monks process for levitating stones, mostly because the knowledge was lost, or is still secret. The monks were obviously slaughtered by the commies when china annexed Tibet. But there was a guy who apparently wittnessed it, sometime in the early 1900's Im guessing. He said they chanted and used horns an drums, and put the stone to be levitated on a concave stone used to amplify the sounds. One interesting side note is that every now-and-again a stone would vibrate so violently that it exploded instead of being levitated.

I would very much like to see a detailed recreation of the ceremony used to make stones lighter. Like the history or discovery channels recreation of building stonehenge. Except that the info on using sound is pretty limited... so it proly wont happen. Maybe a mythbusters episode? we can only hope.
