Some members have taken to creating color schemes where the text of their name, and the color of their mini-profile background are the same.

This should not be encouraged as it makes it difficult for new members to figure out who you are.

As of Tuesday Morning (October 7th), you will be in danger of loosing your background image and/or color (without ATS points refund) if it is the same color as your text (or the background image makes the text impossible to read).

Thank you.

is this ok if your avatar states who you are with text?

No... because believe it or not, we still have a few browsers with images turned off in the list of those who access this site.

Also, there is a "bandwidth monitor" running now that could reduce some board load in the event of extremely high traffic. While it's unlikely it will occur on the new server, we didn't think we'd out-grow the previous dedicated server in just 5 months. One of the first things to go in a high-traffic situation will be avatars and some other images.

i was just thinking.. a member that comes to mind is total enslavement, his/her avatar has his/her name in it so you can tell who it is even though the text is unseeable..

and in low bandwith mode it all reverts to gray with black text anyway...

the only thing i dont like is when there is no idication of who it is at all..

some members profiles, total enslavement, ect ect i think are ok because they are still identifiable... but youve.. got me on the image thing..

if people dont have images on they they wont know who it is..

so your right...

i just think different profiles is what makes us unique...

Bump!

I understand the policy that William is implementing, but I think some of the 'nameless' mini-profiles have been quite cool.

To figure who the member is, all you need to do is hover your mouse over the 'Profile' button under that post.

Until October 7 comes and goes, at least.

I just want to point out that I'm one of those freaks that surf w/o pictures. Everything loads so much faster and you don't really need pictures anyway. At times, I'm always pleasently surprised to see avatars associated with names.
