Australia has had a huge problem with livestock and wild animals eating crops. Recently a team announced a sucessful deterent made from Tiger feces.
Not only is this an original invention, but it also hints at a much more complex instinct then most think is possible. 15 generations is a long time. Maybe it is just hardwired into the brains of the goats?

"Goats wouldn't have seen a tiger from an evolutionary point of view for at least 15 generations but they recognize the smell of the predator," repellent creator Peter Murray said in a statement.
