New cartoon angers Iran: Iranian football team dressed as suicide bombers

Apparently, there is more controversy over another cartoon published in Germany:

In addition, a cartoon printed in a German newspaper showing the Iranian national football team standing in a World Cup stadium with bombs strapped to their jerseys has caused anger in Iran, even among ordinary people not interested in politics.

The cartoon, which was printed in last Friday's edition of Berlin's Tagesspiegel, also depicts German soldiers standing in the stadium with a caption saying "Why at the World Cup of all places does the German army have to be on duty?"

Iran has demanded an apology from the german government over the cartoon
The cartoon's creator is in hiding after receiving death threats.

Thankfully, Iran has not been drawn against Germany, UK, France or the U.S. this summer. Such encounters would certainly act as lightning rods for anger, protest and possibly worse.

It's very sad to see plucky iranian football team caught in the middle of smouldering battle about iranian nuclear program and Mohammad's cartoons.

Why does the cartoon's creator take all the heat? IMO it should be the publication that ran the cartoon that should be getting threatened......if anybody.

So what? Where in the Quran does it state cartoons of Iranians is against Islamic law? Correct me if I am wrong, but only representations of the Prophet are against Islamic law. Nothing wrong at all, and nobody should be held accountable. If you saw the animated cartoons and posters Iran feeds its youth regarding the west you’d puke, so what’s wrong with this one?

And the idea of an Iranian soccer team dressed as suicide bombers is funny as heck.

I actually think the cartoon is making a joke at the german army's expense , i personally i find it quite amusing IMO
