Dubowski vows to screen pic in every Muslim nation

Sandi Dubowski, who won the Teddy gay and lesbian award in 2001 for his controversial doc "Trembling Before G-d," may cause an even bigger stir with "In the Name of Allah," which explores the struggles of homosexual Muslims.

Gay Indian Muslim helmer Parvez Sharma is directing the pic, which looks at gay, lesbian, and transgender Muslims across the Muslim and Western worlds.

"The world right now needs to understand Islam, and these are the most unlikely storytellers of Islam," Dubowski said, who is producing 'Allah.'

I wonder how a movie about homosexual Islam called of things “Allah” will go over? If Danish cartoons cause the world to hate the USA and burn down all things USA, I can’t imagine how gay Islam will affect Muslims. The nukes will fly for certain!

As far as I know no Americans have died over the cartoons, there has been no violence here in the U.S and I can't recall hearing any American embassies or anything being burned down or damaged...
And since the movie has nothing at all to do with America, why would that change?
Who'll be doing the nuking?

"you people"? What people? We didn't make the movie. We're here talking about it. The director is a Muslim. Talk to him.

There are gay Muslims, you know?

I doubt it. Just as there are no true gay Christians, only Christians who may be struggling with what they know to be the sin of lusting after strange flesh. People who claim to be Christians, or Orthodox Jews, and are active sodomites and seek acceptance as such within those faiths have already left them. I suspect it is the same with Islam, although I lack the interest to look up all the revelant parts of the Koran.

As far as the movie itself, it is similar to the constant politically correct attempts to remake Christianity into a liberal social club. However, Christianity and Islam are very different animals, so I expect the usual Islamic violence, death threats, and attempts on the director's life as soon as this becomes widely known in the Muslim world.

www.timesonline.co.uk...

Germany was plunged into its own cartoon war when Klaus Stuttmann, a caricaturist for Der Tagesspiegel, decided to criticise a government plan to deploy soldiers during the World Cup, which will take place around the country this summer. Such a deployment would break the postwar convention of not using the German Army to support the police, a subject of intense debate, given the security issues posed by the tournament, which will run from June 9 to July 9.

The cartoon, published on Friday, showed four Iranian players primed to explode alongside four German players dressed in army uniform. "The real reason why the German Army has to be used during the World Cup," a caption read.

The intent, Herr Stuttmann said, was to mock the German authorities.

[...]

Within hours of publication the newspaper and the cartoonist were flooded with e-mailed insults and protests. "You should be ashamed of yourself, you Nazi," one read. Other correspondents threatened to kill him. The Iranian Embassy yesterday demanded an apology from the newspaper, an influential Berlin daily, and insisted that the editor "make amends for this immoral act". The authorities advised Herr Stuttmann to sleep at a different address every night for a while.

Where'd you get that lucious little tid-bit of mis-information?

Are you saying that a man who claims to be Christian and gay doesn't know himself as well as you do? You know better? He's either not a Christian or not gay. They're mutually exclusive. Whatever.

They're gonna do more than burn down a KFC when they see this movie.

I think it's pretty irresponsible of this filmmaker to make this movie in these times knowing how unstable the Muslim situation has become in the world. Right or wrong.............use your freakin' head!!!

I have some better titles for the movie:

Brokeback Jihad
Torch Song Jihad
La Cage au Jihad

Dr Love, sadly I think that the director is conscious of what he's doing. He wants to make his little contribution into either bringing down Islam, or making muslims even more enraged at the Western world. Intimidation is what it is.

The Bible for starters, also the Church Fathers, the creeds of the Councils, canon law, etc., etc., etc.

Simply claiming to be a Christian does not make you one. For instance, anyone can claim to be Eastern Orthodox, or Roman Catholic, etc. but unless they have officially received the sacraments then they are not. And even if were actual members of those bodies at one time, if they adopt certain beliefs contrary to official dogma then they automatically become ex-Catholics/ex-Orthodox whether or not the Church ever becomes aware of their apostasy and officially excommunicates them.

This is just opening up a new can of worms and at this point it doesnt matter what the director's nationality is... since there is a blatant comparison between the strict east and the more accepting west in the film. Gay parades in san fransisco vs. gay murder in pakistan. The images of american gays in the film is enough to boil the radical islamic blood even further.

Also:

In the Name of Allah is now in full production with the financial support of Channel 4, a major British broadcaster; ARTE, a major French television broadcaster; and ZDF, a major TV broadcaster in Germany. The last shoot in the Middle East, north Africa and south Asia is scheduled to begin in November. Film completion is scheduled for 2006.

I agree. But his religion may be significant. I don't know enough about the film to say, but I would hope that it might speak a positive message to Muslims who are gay and either ashamed, miserable or ostracized.

I think he is exploiting and inflaming current political religious and racial tensions in order to achieve status and money. No one should be permitted to do this whether they are Danish cartoonists, gay Muslim Indians, or lizard people from the centre of the earth. It is just another distasteful symptom of our consumerist society.

OH my god the world cries, don't make the movie. whaaaaaaaaaa

Haaa-choo, "god bless you" SHHHH a muslim might hear you and it may make them angy or sad or pyschotic.

Hey honey you would look great in the at dress in the window, oh wait better not display that dress at Macy's because a veil does not come with it and and I can see your ankle and we may piss of the whining little muslims.

Hey son, whats on cartoon network this morning, oh wait...no more cartoons cause the prudish muslims may be offended and cut off your head.

I am so sick of the damned whining pitiful conceited arrogant belitting muslims trying to tell me what to do with my life.

Its not like we invaded a muslim country and tried to tell them...wait.

OH man...I finally get it...I am so confused.

I can't stand the muslim pompus attitude as far as it relates to them always being right and pius in the sight of the koran, but I think I just realized this very minute that we may be doing the same thing, of wait, we don't cut off heads and kidnap and riot and burn buildings.

So I guess it is different!?

Don't be so sure. 'We' may not kill and destroy in exactly the same manner, but there's been plenty of death and destructions at 'our' hands.

So I guess it is different!?

No, it's not different. And I speak against what 'we' have been doing there, too. I'm totally against it.

Nice post.

Did you forget about half the Catholic clergy? And I'm Catholic, but even I'll admit it...
Go into any seminary in the U.S. and I guarantee half the seminarians are "friends of Dorothy".
