Next Space Research Update Unveils New Glass

I found this on the nasa home page.

A new glass used for lasers is what I could find from the article.

Would this mean that the glass has few inclusions or faults within it? Meaning high level of optical clearness or lack of opacity?

Have to hand it to NASA, a lot of good stuff has come from those people.
