How did 60's probes transmit images of the moon and such, if they didn't have digital cameras? I must be missing something here, if anyone can answer this I'd be grateful.

I am not sure but I reckon they used the same technology the 'airwave' television have been using years before the moon. That technology is ancient..........

The images were stored on magnetic tape (like a VHS or cassette tape) and then the images were transmitted from that. So imagine a VCR but instead of the data going to a TV, the data gets sent to a radio transmitter.

Ah. Thanks,
I knew it was going to be something obvious.

Well, asking is better than never knowing, isn't it?

It was a good question, by the way.
