Wow, I'm glade to see that I am not the only one who dealt with these kinds of happenings. Like everyone else on this thread, This sleep state has happened more than once. As with each occurrance I would always feel a very negative presence very close to me. I want to share three experiences that I so strongly remember and most likely will never forget.

In one of these experiences I was aware of my surroundings and that I was both a sleep and awake and was unable to move. I than realized I was no longer in the safety of my home, but was somewhere in complete darkness and surrounded by very tall trees. In that moment I was in a complete state of panic and began franticly trying to move my body to wake up and end this nightmare. Then I began to notice that I wasn't alone!! There were three very dark outlines standing directly over me. They all three leaned towards my face with only about 1-2 inches between us. They only stared for about maybe ten seconds before leaning back up and to start speaking. What they said to me that night will always haunt me until the very day I die. It was very short but very starting, they said to me that " their coming for you" and thats when I was released from that state and was again able to move. I have no clue to what they meant and who it was that was coming for me?

The second experience was weird, because earlier that day I knew it was going to happened. So knowing this, I kind of had a plan to mount a counter offensive (funny, right?) to protect myself. So, I made a place on the floor to sleep (as close to my open door as possible) that night. When it finaly happened? There they were three beings standing directly over me!! but, this time they felt different? I felt the enegy of a female figure and her figure was gray(smokey color) unlike the other two who were male and black in color. I was afraid but not like last time. This time I was more angry for their intrusions and wanted them to leave me alone forever!! And something else was diferent? I was able to move!! as these beings stood over me doing GOD knows what? I lfted my head off the floor where I was laying and looked directly at them. They just stood there in surprise staring back at me. I then lunged my hand towards the female figure and actually was able to feel her!! As I held on to her I shouted with all my might, energy, spirit and heart that I'm no longer afraid of you!!! and that you are no longer able to control me!! within a instant all those figures who had haunted me for all my life (24 years) who made it impossible to fully function just dispersed exactly like smoke would when in air and I woke up this time not in fear.

The very next day my room mate (bestfriend) had told me that he had heard people talking in my room and then he heard me yelling!! he thought that I was having a bad dream but couldnt explain why he had heard the other voices? I didn't tell my friend what had happened but explained to him that it was over and would no longer be an issue. It has been nearly four years since that day and I haven't had anymore experiences with those intrusive visitors. So those are just two of my encounters of a life long incident. To be honest I don't have any clue who or what they were? but they no longer visit me. If anyone has any idea? I would love to hear more about this phenomena. And my advice to anyone who is dealing with these beings is to find your strength and force your will to be left alone to these creatures. People have no idea on how powerful they truly are? You have been lead to believe in idea of weakness and unworthy of any kind of real power. To rely on others for your strength and will. But in truth? man and his spirit are more powerful than you could imagine. Take care and GOD bless!!!!!

Interesting theory -- la luna. I sleep with blinds closed, and have been unable to identify any pattern to sleep paralysis events. I have had them once or twice in the daytime, but mostly at night -- sometimes just prior to deep sleep, sometimes closer to my normal waking time. Since my darlin' has awakened me twice because I was "making weird sounds" and also because I've allowed myself to explore it somewhat, it frightens me MUCH less than it used to. I haven't had a SP event for more than six months. I've wondered sometimes if there is information there for me. Still don't have an answer. I've been successful in interrupting the cycle sometimes........ I call them "electric dreams", because there is always a precursor feeling of a rolling flow of vibration or electricity -- with an auditory buzz -- that runs or feels like it runs up my body to my head. If I get up, read, do something, whatever...... it usually breaks up the event.

I've been reading through many posts on this board the last few days, looking for possible connections to a theory I've been working on. It might make sense you based on what I see here. I've recently been compiling stories about "shadow people" and many of the stories include SP. As of late, I've been wondering if SP is connected to these things......I realize that many on this thread may not have actually seen one of these things, but it would be easy to miss them if you're in a dark room. However, there seems to be some parellels going on here. I've posted some information about shadow beings on Myspace.com/HauntingzInk if you are interested in learning more. So far, some of us para investigators have determined (when dealing with shadow people), that they move away from UV light and so many folks now carry UV flashlights with them. The more I read and hear, the more I'm beinging to wonder if these creatures are drawing energy from us when we are sleeping - I personally had one draw from me during the day, but I was in a dark basement when it happened - and fully awake. Just a thought.....your account has some striking similarities though. Might be something you want to look into - by the way, I don't sleep in complete darkness anymore either and I always leave a light on in my daughter's room at night. She use to have terrible nightmares, but they stopped after I started leaving the light on in her room at night...............

I usually sleep with a Bible touching my solar plexus, because of a real awful experience I had a way back, which caused me to sleep with the light on & tv on for quite some time! I wasn't sleeping well because of doing so, so I got good and angry at these beings that caused it in the first place, and told my self enough is enough! I refuse to let them do this to me! So I grabbed the Bible and haven't been bothered since!

.......Angel, I'd really like to know more about this if you are willing to share. I've been searching these pages for days and the above-mentioned statements caught my attention. About 8 years ago, I had an encounter that affected my solar plexes and I just wanted to know if your experience was similar, but I don't want to say anything that could influence your account. Could you please share with us?

Wow, this thread really caught my attention. Mainly because of the incident I had early this morning about 4am, but let me start at the beginning, it's quite long so I'll summarize most of it.

When I was young I started getting this "sleep paralysis" and it evolved into what I call "Extreme Sleep-Walking" episodes. I would be fully awake, eyes open and completely in charge of my body, but I was seeing things. Things that I couldn't explain. I would be in class and my vision would become distorted. The chalkboard at the front of class (I always sat in the back) would seem like it was right in front of me, like at my nose much like looking through a magnifying glass. I felt as though the walls were closing in on me. And peoples heads would seem large than normal. And that's how it would all start, hallucinations would follow... Most notably was a bright white ball would appear in front and above of me and I "had" to get to it, move towards it. My parents would freak out. They even thought I was on drugs. I would be in a cold sweat during this time. It only happened in two places, at home (in California) and in my aunts house in Mexico City. When I reached the age of about 15 I decided to take control and learned how to give myself these dreams. I was searching for an answer but I never found one. The only thing I learned was how to control the hallucinations and stop them from beginning.

I moved out at about 17 to Arizona. There I would have lucid dreams, most of which I attributed to gory games like DOOM or Quake that I liked to play. But then the sleep paralysis started again and those dreams were almost always the same. I would wake from a dream or nightmare, the room would be dark but I could look around with my eyes. I couldn't move my body very well as though someone or something was holding me down, but I was either on my side or laying on my stomach (which I never do). I could feel someone behind me with their hand on my arm, sometimes they were whispering to me but I couldn't make it out. My mind would race and I would struggle to get free. It felt like the whole bed was shaking and it would pain me to struggle more but I continued to fight out of fear. At some point I would wake up and it usually scared me enough not to fall back asleep. At one point a friend gave me a Dream Catcher. Supposedly they are meant to filter out nightmares for children, but the whole time I had it up my nightmare worsened. The nightmares decreased significantly when I took it down.

As I got older I grew tired of the "nightmares" and of this "thing" holding me hostage. I began to fight back and struggle as much as I could. Sometimes I would come out of them in a sweat, think about what just happened and force myself asleep again and ask for it to return. I'd then try to communicate with this presence, but in the back of my mind I knew I was only seeking answers within my subconsciousness. Because I don't believe in God, Angels, Demons, Ghosts, etc. Although I won't fully discount them all, but the funny thing is that those things don't scare me and I'm deathly afraid of spiders, so why demons? Why not Spiders? I've had these "incidents" during the day on my couch, at night, in consecutive order (one right after another sometimes even after I was awake for at least an hour in between) and in at least a dozen homes in two countries and 3 different states. So I'm the only common element in this crazy equation. What gives?

Which brings me to last night. This one I attribute to my love for the TV show Supernatural. I love that show! But it was sleep paralysis none-the-less.

The dream begins with me entering a business, there's a group of people in the front room standing around talking. They have been seeing ghosts. All of a sudden ghosts appear around us, swarming and taking people one by one. Everybody left is frightened, then there's only me and three others left. One guy is standing there with his eyes closed, he turns to the frightened person next to him who is hysterical and says, "They can't hurt you because there is no such thing as ghosts, you don't believe in ghosts." And he keeps repeating it, but the ghosts overwhelm this frightened chap and he's gone screaming! Then a ghost, a half decomposed shell of a woman grabs hold of me and I struggle. I feel everything shaking and I'm telling her I don't believe in you and she's screaming at me "but you do". She's wrapped around me and I can't break free, the only thing free is my head so I bite her (seriously, I don't know what I was thinking) and she laughs and bites onto my lower lip and I'm struggling to break this hold. Then I remember I'm dreaming and I close my eyes and wake myself. When I wake my lower lip feels numb and my body is tense and it's 4am.

That's my story as quick as I could make it. The only thing I left out was that I often have vivid dreams, but I forget them within an hour of waking. But today I just couldn't stop thinking bout that dream. And everything in this thread feels so familiar to me I just had to share.

I have had sleep paralysis countless times in my life, and I used to be very afraid of it, but over the years I stopped being afraid. I guess having it so much and living to see the morning light clued me in that it wasn't going to destroy me after all. I have never felt the need to invoke the names of any deities or prophets, etc, either. I keep all light out of the room from outside now, but i can't say I always did. I never felt like demons were attacking me either, though.

Interesting thing about 3 AM- it is the true "witching hour", as we tend to refer to the midnight hour. A quick Google search will tell you a lot about it. Also, in most alien abtuctees' accounts they say the time of their abduction was 2-3 AM. Sleep paralysis is also linked to abduction experiences as well. I wonder if our minds are creating this paralysis phenomena to be able to cope with things outside our usual scope of understanding, such as alien encounter or spirits, astral projection, etc.

The dreams I have do seem to be more intense the stronger the moon waxes. Only one time during a full moon with moonlight pouring over me have I ever had a nightmare followed by sleep paralysis. The girlfriend I had at the time and myself were sleeping in her sister's upstairs bedroom with the window open. We both fell asleep and had the same nightmare of being attacked by some faceless thing that was trying to pull us off the bed. Then both of us woke up in a state of sleep paralysis and proceeded to be "attacked" again. It was a terrifying experience to say the least. Not being able to move while something with claws tries to pull you off a bed and do god knows what to you is insane, even if it was only a nightmare. She and I were so scared that we slept on her sister's couch for the rest of the night and on subsequent visits as well.

I've been sleep paralyzed on other occasions too. Some were self-induced, some weren't. That was only time it was a scary other than the first time which was a "Oh dear lord what the hell is happening to me?" kinda moment. Hope this helped.

My one and only experience (thank god!) with sleep paralysis was in fact with the moon shining in the window. I had lacy curtains, and no blinds, so I didn't have much of a choice. I was only about 17 at the time of the incident. At that time, I had never been on the internet, and I didn't even know what sleep paralysis was. For many years before finding out what it was, I firmly believed that aliens were trying to abduct me. I woke up in my bed, I couldn't move or scream.. My bed had levitated off the floor a bit, and was shaking, and there were these blinding green rays of light shining through both windows in my bedroom. It was the scariest thing I have ever encountered in my life.

There is a couple clues that you are being attacked by the underworld when you are sleeping. The first is a humming vibrating sound.. very easily detected. The second is a feeling you are being vibrated apart. I know because I was experiencing this thoughout my 20's for almost a decade. I use to live a party life. Typical teenage kid. Its not because you are sleep deprived. Its not because moonlight. Its because somewhere in your future self, you do a complete u-turn [regain faith or what] and all the evil forces come out to try to stop you. They will pinch you, pull you, poke you. mess with your dreams. Your dreams may seem if they are too real. You could wake from one dream and into another without knowing if you are really awake.

The sleep paralysis comes from the 'them' and it gets worse and worse until you seek help from the blessed virgin mary.

I remember one night I was being attack, i was paralized, and felt something holding me down from getting up. I couldn't even move 1 finger. I prayed to God that he would allow me to see who was on top of me. Then I regain my eyesight and saw a dark slick black person on top of me. No horms. I didn't make a connection until I read the book The Way of Divine Love' where a lady called Josefa talks about her experience of being taken to hell so they can break her faith. When she said what they looked like I knew instantly what was happening to me. Thanks to the virgin mary none of this happens to me anymore. Gen 3:15 douay rheims says she step on his head for me. As crush thy head under her foot. Now I have the miraculous medal and many good things are starting to happen for me. Before everything was bad. Hope this helps you. God bless.

Recently I had a quite poignant sleep paralysis experience. Possibly also what some would call abduction.

I woke up and I was sleeping on my back. I was looking towards the door and I could feel something malevolent coming in. I could not move.

Having spent a lot of time on forums like this, I had read about sleep paralysis, old hag, abductions, so my first thought was "I know exactly what is happening here!

Then I was laying on my side, how I usually sleep, facing away from the wall. There was a dark entity there. It was short, and appeared to be wearing a black robe and hood, although I couldn't see the folds of the fabric.

I was terrified at first. I tried to get up and was able to move my hand to push up--but when I applied pressure, a strange thing happened. The best thing way I can explain it is that my physical body and my spiritual body were not synched up together--so when I pushed down, my spirit went up, but my body didn't. (I experienced this another time in my life, when I had a very bad fall and when I landed had a sensation that my spirit fell "through" my physical body.)

I heard a noise that sounded like flicking the little spring that is on the floorboard behind a door sometimes when I tried to m over.

This was not the first time I had faced a spritiual entity, but the first that it was in tandem with paralysis. That threw me off-guard a bit but I reacted how I normally did--sort of enacting a separation between my soul and mind. I projected very simply, "I am NOT availible to feed you fear." I was also getting angry at this point--sort of, how dare this thing come into my room and inturrupt my sleep?

I felt strongly that this thing wanted to posess me. I began to pray and imagine that I was full of light to counter the darkness and said the name of Jesus--I am not a CHristian but I knew the name had a lot of power and positive connotations. After a moment or two it left--I simply woke up, back in my physical body, and laying in the same position.

I don't know what it was. I do not know if it was a demon in the Christian sense or simply a representation of my own fear or anger, but I lean towards the second--previous to this I had been working very strongly to purge myself of fear, so I think this was like a subconscious representation of my fears trying to come back.

A few weeks ago I had another bout of sleep paralysis, but there were no entities involved, and it was rather unremarkable.

So that's my story.

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to even answer the question, I was sleeping with the blinds closed, and the only window in the room faces away from the part of the sky in which the moon crosses.

I used to have sleep paralysis untill I learnt to control it-

By that time I used to sleep (like I do now) with shut windows and the door almost closed- completely dark. If I see any light near it difficults my concentration to get in the sleep mood.

The majority of my sleep paralysis episodes happened during afternoon naps with the blinds open and daylight pouring in.

I would say at least half of my episodes occur during naps as well and for some reason I always nap in the guest room which only has sheer, decorative curtains and the sun comes flooding in through the windows.

We have plantation shutters in our bedroom which makes the room very dark when they are shut, which they always are, at night, but I fall asleep with the TV so I guess that would be considered unnatural light.
