Have you ever thought about it?
Area 51 this, Area 51 that.
If you were the U.S Government would you really be testing Top Secret aircraft and military equipment at one of the most publicised places on the planet?
I don't think so.
But while all the attention is on Area 51 the government is laughing all the way to it's next project.
It sounds good, it's got a nice ring to it Area 51 shrouded in mystery.
It's obviously a military base but alas there is nothing to be seen here I'm afraid.

Is this an opinion, or do you have proof on the matter?

There are increasing amounts of Area 51 reports of unidentified aircraft, and given it's security, makes it an excessive hot spot, and a sure fire location for such activity.

The number of people which are turned around open fired on, etc. You can't really say that "something" isn't going on there, the government would still have to secure where they ARE testing these aircraft, and even then, it'd still have to be in the SW US, why? Because there are no other locations (as hot as) in the US like this.

I see that we have come to a similar mindset through diverse backgrounds.

Interesting point.

I beleive there is a 70% chance there is some research arenas more sacred to the government than Area 51.

To counterpoint, So much is spent on 51, do we really have the money and resources for something greater?

Further, would it not be safer to split the research among universities, military bases, and factories?

If you believe they are using it then the Area 51 bug has got you and that's just what the government wants.
The more people are sniffing around that area the better, don't you think other countries have got satellites in space?
If you were a foreign spy where would you be trying to sniff around.
The more publicity this place gets the better.
Top secret projects are developed in Top secret facilities, and Area 51 is far from Top secret.
I even think government agencies are posting things about Area 51 to get more flies round the pot.
But everyones got an opinion I suppose.

The Department of Defense has spent millions of dollars upgrading and building facilities at "Area 51" over the past 10 years. That much is obvious to anyone with access to Google Earth.

I spoke with the commander of "Area 51" recently. Suffice it to say he couldn't talk about the nature of current projects, but the test site is very busy these days. The Groom Lake base remains a vital asset for developing technology to aid the warfighter.

I don't think the loved ones of workers who became deathly ill from wroking there and were told by courts that the place did not exist think it is a distraction.

Timothy Goods book alien base comes up with a great alternative in the marshall islands. Kwajellan atoll base. A thousand miles till nearest land in any direction, all controlled by the US navy, and the reserch he did on this base makes the security at area 51 look like a joke. Thats where the real deal research goes on folks, out in the pacific, far away from prying eyes, and far out of reach of all and any civilian snoopersl ike us.

This is more in the way of my thinking, somewhere probably on a U.S island where no-one can see what you are doing,Madgreebo give yourself a round of applause the brightest dude so far

Is not practical to hide huge research on an island. No matter how secure is is more vulnerable from attack and spying that something in the middle of your country. You can hide better at sea than in the dessert. Also on an island you the the problems of carrying personnel, supplies, materials and so on. You have limited space to your research and the environment can be very harsh to delicate machinery and aircraft. These island are usually midpoints to mission for refueling, maintenance and so on. For example the Diego Garcia Island is a Stealth Bomber base, U2's and maybe even the Aurora project aircraft, but not much more.

About Diego Garcia Island

nOw think at all the problems listed above and all the advantages for Area 51. Its isolated by desert, you can see who's coming. Its close to Palmdale, California home of Skunkworks and Phantomworks.
Can be heavily protected with a very small response time. Its easy to move people, machines, supplies and so on...

So in conclusion why waste the perfect place to do your research?
I say its pretty safe, its not like actually know what is going on there

Sorry Carcharodon dude, your wrong about the Island base.

In Timothy Goods book "Alien Base", you see an old picture of the base and its 6000 feet long runway taken in the early 70's just before it was seized by the US Navy for research and development purposes. Good even talks to a couple of people on a ham radio who work there.(Good even validates certain details to make sure they are the real deal) Their tour of duty? you stay till the projects finished its that tight.
When he asked about what goes on there at the base, all contact was severed from the researchers.

All i say is that area 51 may be were they have a few flight test teams, but the Island is where the real cream of the crop is hidden.

I was based on a now defunct pacific ocean Air Force base and worked with people that had worked at Kw and they couldnt speak about what the did there. As for Area 51, i think its a final flight test and research station, i heard rumors that the real base was moved to Utah and thats where the most super secret stuff is tested while 51 is where the last stages of the testing are taken place.

The build up of 51 could be form all the projects that are slowly headed to the final stages and due to the number of projects had to expand!

It seems unfeasible to have top secret projects at 51, there are dozens of people camping out around the base with tele-photo lenses waiting to get a glimpse at the next "Black Project".
The government is laughing at you people.

I cant agree that it's a distraction, for a few simple facts, All those vehicles they move in and out of there, Buses, cars, Planes all cost money to run, a tremendous amount of money.. All the people they bring in and out.. They wouldnt risk one of these people disclosing something if it was all for nothing, There is a huge amount of money being spent to keep this place alive and running. And a massive amount of money on security, Not only that but an exhaustive amount of effort.. Just for a distraction? Sorry i dont believe it. And to see that the place is still active should be proof enough.

Yeah it's still active because it's a legitimate army base but alas no Black Ops

I have no doubt there are still Black Projects being developed there.. Why wouldnt there be? the government can deny anything they want and tell us anything they want. As for people trying to get a glimpse of anything out there with a telephoto lens, two things.
1. They have to be able to capture the object they're looking for moving at whatever speeds it can move it. Which means they have to know where it is, where's its coming from and where it's going.
2. Have you tried to move a telephoto lens into place to capture something moving? Even trying to capture stars is pretty difficult.. Let alone capturing an aircraft moving at god knows what speeds..

It seems like the government brainwashing has worked on you.
What they do is write books & start internet sites just to get everyone gathered around Area 51.
If they do have a top secret testing base it will probably be in the baron, inhospitable expanses of Alaska.
You ain't gonna get too many people wanting to camp around there.

Oh god.. The governments brainwashing? Are you kidding me? Seriously..
The base is there.. You can see it.. It's active.. You can see that too.. get too close and see what happens... There are unknown aircraft flying out of there regularly.. You can see that too.. Why dont you just go do your home work before you go back to school tomorrow..

Hello again Ox, I don't mean to insult you but this is what it's all about, Area 51 is the most talked about base on the planet.
Don't you think the government knows this? They would be stupid to carry out Black projects here.
