I don't think that The Eagles are British.

I was going to say The Jam, but just realised they broke up 24 years ago!

In light of that, for me its a 6 way tussle between The Stone Roses, The Smiths, Oasis, The Libertines, Pulp, and Ocean Colour Scene.

In 20 years..... Ummmmm...

Dream Theater

Guns N Roses (I suppose I should put them)

Extreme

Racer X

Although most of post 1986 was horrible, what with all the 'rap' starting to tack over.....

Guns N' Roses
The Beatles
Iron Maiden

I can't really think properly. I'm too ill.
But yeah, off the top of my head, those three stick out the most.

AC/DC members, Angus, Malcolm and George Young were all born in Scotland. They are in fact a Scotish band, with only one Australian member - the dummer after Dave Evans was replaced by Ronald Scott and later on by Brian Johnson who was also English...

They were never an Australian band, because a few members spent a few years there doesn't mean much.

...and the best band of the last 20 years, for pure talent are Slayer.

Well, 'best' band is a subjective question so I'll go with the most influensial band. Being that twenty years brings us back to 86', I would have to say that Nirvana had the most impact. They did only put out like three albums and yet everyone knows who they are.

Rage Against The Machine - Rock
Dead Kennedys - Punk
KRS-One - Hip Hop

Only because of the suspicious circumstance of Kurt's apparent "Suicide". Not to say they woulnd't be well known if that hadn't happend but or that they suck, on the contrary, I think they rock(ed) but they would be no where near as popular/well known if that didn't happen.

My favorite bands of all time is AC/DC and the Beatles.

The Beatles are the greatest band of all time, and I see nothing changing as of right now.

Maybe someday someone will come along and change this.

As far as musical talent goes you can't beat Dream Theater, they are unsurpassed in my estimation.
As far as beign relevant and having a solid message (If theitr front man gets annoying at times) I would have to go with U2. They might not be the ebst musically and yes their newer stuff is not as good as anything pre Achtung baby, but seeign them in conert is something else...those guys CAN rock. Edge is adecent guitar player too.
But you also have to mention the Rolling Stones, they would have to be high on anyones list if not for at least longevity.

The best band in the last 20 years huh? woohhhh

Let me think...........................

Nine Inch Nails
Smashing Pumpkins
and
Pink Floyd (even though thats longer than 20 yrs)

special thanks to "Trent reznor" and "Syd Barrett" for the most Inspireing Music in the last 100 years. (IMHO)
Billy corgans pretty good too

I think the Title "Best Band" is a little confusing, as that might mean the most sucsessfull which IMO dosen't mean poo.

That's true, but they didn't grow up there, they moved to Sydney when they were still kids.

You know, I was thinking about this the other day and I can't believe that nobody's said U2. U2 in twenty years might be bigger than the Beatles only because it will be a generational thing.

U2 has reached icon status.

Peace

That'd be U2

Personally, I love[d]: Depeche Mode (with Alan Wilder), Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, Einsturzende Neubauten, Cabaret Voltaire, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Kraftwerk, etc. Many of these bands have been plugging along for more than 20 years now.
