From:

www.theregister.co.uk...

I'm not sure I buy the 'flying car' theory. But whatever it is, it's a curious image. I've been looking at it trying to decide if it's an optical illusion of some sort.

The commentary by the man writing the article isn't very helpful. And I'm curious how their 'expert' seems to know from a single frame just how fast this thing might be traveling. But check out the link there's more information here, including the location where to find the image on Google Earth.

maybe it was speeding, jumped the curb, and what they got was a picture just before the crash ?

maybe the car is up on blocks ?

looks like a really thick bill board to me

Well, it is defiantly on a Google map.
Google Earth.
I would have to say one white car parked to a black car, but it is a bit hard to tell for sure. If it is a shadow of the 'flying car" it does seem to match the direction of the other shadows in the area.

Looks more like a horizontal water tank on legs to me.

Judging by the angle of the shadow that is cast, it would seem to me that the window and roof area would cast a longer shadow than that.

In this pic it's almost non-existant in the shadow.

The tree's also appear to be causing 'less' of a shodow than the car, whereas they should casting a longer shadow than they are.

could be some type of advertizing or possibly a billboard of some sort....
I heard somehwere that they claimed it was travelling at 80 knots (not sure how they would be able to calculate that..)

...actually, it's from here Flying Car

According to our Oz photo interpretation bureau (Clinton Bird), the vehicle in question is at an altitude of three of four metres and doing about 80 knots. Which rules out a rocket-powered project, and we can see no evidence of the Wankel-powered turbofan outrigger engines favoured by the Moller Corporation:

Whatever it is, it's not there now...how long ago did Google google that area.
I know my house was mapped about three years ago.

Looks like it could be a bus stop shelter although they aren't usually at an angle to the road. If it were part of a park and ride site then that may account for the angle.

billy: "look momey its a flying car"

mom: "look away billy, just look away"

i think its a billboard i mean its right across from that parking lot so when the cars leave they look at it and say "hey its a billboard"

Hello

Great find Jadette

Very weird
. The object, which seems to look like a car, is definitively standing above the ground, or it is a big visual effect.

There is also what seems to be some kind of "giant antenna" or stalk linked to the upper left of the car, and this stalk seems to extend and reach the trees upward.

With all the other cars about to the right of it in the carpark, you would of thought if it was a flying car someone would of noticed
