Agreed, and I know that there is not a single credible scientist who would argue that. They know that there is much that they don't know.
Here are some quotes from a few others who also feel this way.
‘Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.’ Albert Einstein
"Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind". Albert Einstein

‘99.999% of what affects our reality will be undetectable by our senses. Man must learn to think for himself rather than follow blindly what he has been taught.’ Buckminster Fuller

'Where there is great doubt, there will be great awakening; small doubt, small awakening; no doubt, no awakening.' Zen proverb

‘Believe nothing no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.’ Buddha

‘Treat the other man's faith gently; it is all he has to believe with. His mind was created for his own thoughts, not yours or mine. ‘ Henry S. Haskins

" If I do not believe as you believe, it proves that you do not believe as I believe, & this is all that it proves. " Thomas Paine

'The universe is not only stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine.' H. J. Haldene

'We do not see things as they are, we see things as we are.' Anais Nin

"Atheism vs. Christianity" . . . I am reminded of Tweedledee and Tweedledum, who agreed to fight a battle.

What the two have in common is a belief that God (if such exists) will fit under someone's hat. Christians insist that they have got Him under their hats, and that everyone else's hat is empty of anything but hair. Atheists doubt this claim, and I must admit to some sympathy for that position. But the underlying premise of where God (if such exists) may be found doesn't seem to meet skepticism from either one.

Less metaphorically, or perhaps less facetiously, God is not something that the human mind can wrap itself around logically, or that can be defined or described in human language. ANY human language, mind. That it was written in a collection of books Christians call "the Holy Bible" does not make one set of words an exception. Even if Christian claims about the Bible being "inspired" (whaveter that means) by God are accepted, it remains a collection of writings in human language, with all the limitations that implies. God Himself could not define or describe Himself in human language.

On the other hand, the inability to prove something that cannot even be explained so that understanding is conveyed -- which is surely a prerequisite for proof, for if you do not understand a concept, how will you recognize proof of it? -- means nothing at all. Claims that God exists cannot be compared with claims that a leprechaun resides in one's closet, for the simple reason that the person receiving the claim has a clear and accurate idea of what a "leprechaun" is. But he has no such comprehension of what "God" means, unless of course he has shared the same kind of experience that the person saying this has, and then he would not be making the comparison.

Both Christianity and atheism put limits on the universe based on the arrogant notion that our own minds are capable of encompassing it. They just do so in different ways. And I believe that much of their obsession with one another on forums such as these, derives from an unconscious recognition of that kinship. What we see is basically sibling rivalry.

Althought I more often than not find myself not believing in god (a thought here and there about "what if"), I never find myself believing in christianity. If there is a god christianity is the corrupting his name.

If this hypothetical god required the worship of his followers then christianity would be to blame for the lose of so many followers. they have invented so many laughable stories and halfa**ed exuses it has made people stop believing in god entriely and not just christianity.

the only people who remain now are those who dont want to hear the truth because they dont really care all that much. they just want to go to church so that if their right, they go to heaven and if their wrong, "shrug" a swing and a miss, no skin off my back.
