I have a couple of questions, and then some comments.
First, I was once told that the Jewish 'Shaitan' was originally viewed as being more like God's prosecutor than the prince of darkness. He was like the disciplinarian who meted out punishment to mankind. Not surprisingly, people took an instant dislike to him...if what I heard is true.
As for Lucifer, and the serpent, are they not symbols of the power of reason, the enlightenment of mankind, ie: be wise as serpents. Many cultures attribute wisdom to serpents.
On a personal note, I don't believe in an entity who is evil incarnate, but that is just opinion.

Accuser, adversary, punishing. Those all seem to fit with the prosecutor label.
I noticed all the numerological coincidences, too.
In my life, the number 13 is over represented to a great degree. Is there anything that you would suggest might be the significance of that?

That must have been the first article I have read that showed 13 in a positive light. And 26 and 39 too, which are also significant to me. I had gone to that site before, but didn't read about what a star number is until now. Thirteen has gotten a raw deal, it seems to have a bad rep. with virtually everyone.

This is interesting in the context of the Yezidi, who revere a being sometimes called shaitan and often represented as an Angel. Show, since perhaps they call come from the same generalized culture, that perhaps they really do mean Shaitan, but not as the Evil Devil. Ie, they are just continuing the pre-monotheistically reformed religion of the hebrews. Thats rather intruiging. Additionally so when you consider that their shaitan is Malik Taws, King Peacock (malik, moloch, melek, means alternatively king, angel, etc), and that peacocks aren't native to israel, nor, I beleive, that region at all, but are in india. Coupled with the (poorly supported) idea that the langauage of Harrappan was related to the Elamo-Semitic family, and you might have a case for an 'israel to india' religion, that perhaps moved from india into the west. [/extreme speculation]
