and how do you know if they're legit? you know, some people would fake it...
so what are the consequences of having a "dead" spirit upon death?
are there OTHER ways to avoid these consequences (you know, without the help of jesus)?

that seems pretty illogical
that would put gandhi, einstein, other great thinkers, and not to mention many great philanthropists and great humanitarians, all in hell for not adhereing to a certain system of beliefs.
would a just god not allow people to achieve salvation through good WORKS?
do you HONESTLY believe that because gandhi wasn't a christian he went to hell?
i would like to know WHY you believe that the ONLY possible way to be saved is through jesus, because i know many christians that tell me that as long as i live a good life i'm fine in the j man's book.
so why do you believe that only christians go to heaven?

dbrandt, if you live a life of good works, you aren't caring about cancelling out the bad.
i have not devoted my life to any city, state, nation, or deity, i've devoted it to a planet and all the people on it.
if god did create the world, and i turn out to be wrong in my religious beliefs, my devotion to god's creation won't be enough?
seems a bit irrational to me
John.3
[1]There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
[2] The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
[3] Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
[4]Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
[5] Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
[6] That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
[7] Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
[8] The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
