Okay, I will really hate typing the rest of this up, but for my little brother, I'm going to do it. Hopefully, you can give him a little advice.

He is TWELVE YEARS OLD! TWELVE YEARS OLD! And he still sucks his thumb. My brother begged me not to post this or reveal anything but I was hoping you could all help a little. He is trying to stop, but he can't. Any advice for him? Please! I'm getting tired of looking at it!

I wouldn't worry or he shouldn't worry..my best friend sucks her thumb and she is 32!!!! Now that's when I would worry

Plenty of adults do it.

Come to think of it, I haven't done it in a long while. I must have broken the habit without knowing.

Something else needs to replace the oral fixation.

But anyway, my brother, like whenever he has a friend spend the night or something and his friends wake up before him, they catch him with his thumb in his mouth. I feel sorry for him. He said he embarresed himself during summer camp too.

Put tobasco sauce on it, its what my friend's sisters did to her, she stopped right away.

I sucked my thumb until I was about 12. no big deal. I eventually stopped after I got braces, it just didn't feel right with the braces and all. the only real solution is time. well, or to pick up another habit. I became a heavy-duty nail biter after stopping the thumb sucking. I stopped doing that after I chipped a tooth from nail biting. (well, and I got a set of acrylic nails put on. can't chew those.) now I smoke. d'oh.

My sister sucked her thumb for a long time too .. I think until she was 10 or so.

We put salt on her thumb or pepper, stuff like that.
