An excelent article questioning the motivation around the current furore.

Who knows whats up, Maybe Whispers was correct?

But the more I watch the story unfold, the more I think something deeper and darker is at stake. It seems the top career elite at the CIA, plus Tenet, has pulled out all the stops to try to bust up the Rove machine. That suggests they're worried about something much bigger than just bureaucratic turf or the WMD blame game.

In fact, if this were a Third World country, I'd say we're witnessing the early stages of a coup d'etat -- or of a desperate effort to prevent one. But of course, those kind of things never happen in America.

It's still creepy, though. In a democracy, intelligence agencies generally aren't supposed to undermine elected governments. But of course, elected governments also aren't supposed to go around outing intelligence agents for fun and profit.

NC

The Bush admin's abuses of intelligence agencies and their products have been far more significant than what brought Nixon down with Watergate.

This admin is on the way out. The sooner the better.

Defend them all you will, sycophants and false patriots. Defend that your government should lie and fabricate, to support the agenda of invading and occupying another country. Defend that it is legitimate to kill thousands of civilians and put your servicemen and women at daily risk of death where you have no game plan at all to restore order. Defend on the basis that all politicians are entitled to lie, and this admin is no different to any other.

Teach your children these things well, all of you who are defending the indefensible.

Rumours of the beginning of the end of Bush over this, and the parrallels with the David Kelly incident (Guy commits suicide after being "outed" as the person who critised the WMD dossier by the Govt in a revenge action).

I made a post with some good sites on my blog stuffucanuse.com...

Definitly look at this with the consequences of this episode...
