Several Drivers Strike Human Body, Keep Driving

WATERLOO, Md. -- Police said several drivers struck a human body on Interstate 95 in Maryland and did not stop.

The corpse was recovered from the northbound lanes of I-95 in Howard County, Md., Monday about 5 a.m.

Police said the body, which was struck several times by passing vehicles, was taken to the Medical Examiner's Office in Baltimore to determine the cause of death.

I am the victim of a hit and run in which I was a pedestrian. I would assume that those who hit the individual are probably hoping that they are not prosecuted for vehicular homicide. The story doesn't provide a lot of details on just how the victim came be hit either by the first vehicle, which may have been, or may have not been, the cause of death, or the subsequent vehicles. The story does say that the scene was "gruesome." That might be enough to make some keep on truckin'.
