Beelzebubba (geez, can't I just say "evil one" it's easier to spell
)

"I am the owl" perfect-for so many reasons. most especially when the "kids" in the "scenes" they (the bands) often "preached" to in their songs couldn't even see it to understand- just didn't get certain things-about the government and how things work...hippies/punks they could never seem to see when they were divided by deceit and infiltrated by outside bias from the society they tried to shun, to conquer the credibility of their scene and in playing along they played into their hands.

DK also had a good song about what I more specifically target in that statement with the little diddy "Anarchy for sale" too. They were some of the earliest domestic hardcore alternative bands aka "punk" but "punk" was a derogatory term the media coined to try to villianize the social movement in such scenes, and well it worked...kids were happy to identify with being "punk" and it all but became a fashion statement...the punks selling out their own scene-what a shame and geez...I could really go off on the subject!

But yeah even early 80s and that # still flies-still makes good angry sense.

and I'll stop now.
oh and that link didn't have anything on Jello and Johnny...took me to AT though-so that was cool

"Wake Up America"

Wake up america
Be a good american

"Stupid World"

Lisa washed her hair on Monday
Lisa washed her hair on Tuesday
Lisa washed her hair on Wednesday
Lisa washed her hair in Thursday

Then her husband noticed that her shampoo
Had upset her pH balance
Her hair was all dried out and frizzy
So he shot the bitch and moved to the city

Her husband got a job at a roller rink
He tried to pick up chicks but he had a little dink
He brushed his teeth with Aim but it didn't matter
Nice fresh breath but his dink didn't get no bigger

Oh what a stupid world

What's a dink?

OK... Back to Panic. I forgot how much I love this tune.

Rebirtha

Rebirtha strolling 'cross the street
Juggling keys to a small red car
Butterflies and bombs fly close
Like she's some Disney movie star

Sipping hopes and lonlies
Since the big leagues left us dry
Birtha, Rebirtha sing a sad song
Soothe these troubled times

First time
It's not the first time
Last time
No, I know I seen your place before
Maybe in a past life
Or maybe it was just last night
I don't know

Birtha never sang too well
But her stereo shook glass
Leather gripped our bodies
As her toes curled around the gas

Shaking loose out of Kansas
First twenty minutes in black-and-white
Birtha, Rebirtha, talk to me, take to me
Ease these troubled times

Won't ever talk too much
She had those television eyes
My gaze never strayed too much
Too much past those eyes

She said, "I know a town where real life's a game
Baseball's all that's real
At night all the faces light up
As the players take the field"

Uh huh... yeah... One more before I make my merry way to the happy hour... two.. three... four...

Use Me
(Bill Withers)

My friends
Feel its their appointed duty
They keep trying to tell me
All you want to do is use me
Oh, but my answer
To all that use me stuff
I want to spread the news
That if it feels this good getting used
You just keep on using me
Until you use me up
Until you use me up

My brother
He sat me right down and he talked to me
Oh, he told me
That I ought to not let you just walk on me
And I'm sure he meant well
Yeah, but when our talk was through

I said brother if you only knew
You'd wish that you were in my shoes
You just keep on using me
Until you use me up

Oh, sometimes
Yeah, it's true you really do abuse me
You get me in a crowd of high class people
And then you act real rude to me
But, oh, baby, baby, baby
When you love me I can't get enough!

I want to spread the news
That if it feels this good getting used
Oh, you just keep on using me
Until you use me up
Until you use me up

Talking about you using me
It all depends on what you do
It ain't too bad the way you're using me
'Cause I sure am using you do to the things you do

Bayou Lena
Transcribed by: Chris Cooper

Hey Hey-a Bayou Lena
Ain't she a beautiful girl
C'mon take it up to New Orleans
And drink a bottle of cheap red wine

Well, she walked in to the room wearing a gator skin suit
Barfly's slack jaws droppin' to the floor
With the grease on her fingers and lipstick on her toes
When the lights turned red, she began to take it off

She dances in the corner makin' minimum wage
Back home with seven hungry mouths to feed

Hey Hey-a Bayou Lena
Ain't she a beautiful girl
C'mon and take it up to New Orleans
And drink a bottle of cheap red wine

She likes to shimmy in the shadows 'til the brink of day
Cockfight pretty woman that I love
With a pissed off disposition and a # eatin' grin
With a smile on her face she looks you in the eye

Dangling in the corner makin' minimum wage
Back home with seven hungry mouths to feed

Hey-a Bayou Lena
Ain't she a beautiful girl
C'mon and take it up to New Orleans
And drink a bottle of cheap red wine

Well now, there's blood sittin' on the barstool
You know she's looking for Ms. Lana Lee
Yeah, spinnin' wheel spinnin' on the record machine
Sayin' what goes up, must come down

With this little southern showgirl in a gator skin suit
Jailbird vagrants stompin' to the floor
Mixin' drinks with muddy water and smokin used cigarettes
At the night of joy, what a night of joy

Dances in the corner makin' minimum wage
Back home with seven hungry mouths to feed

Hey-a Bayou Lena
Ain't she a beautiful girl
C'mon take it up to New Orleans
Let's drink a bottle of cheap red wine

Hey-a Bayou Lena
Ain't she a beautiful girl
C'mon take it up to New Orleans
Let's drink a bottle of cheap red wine

Hey Bayou Lena
Ain't it a beautiful world
It's still a beautiful world
It's still a beautiful world

Mark Lanegan - Ugly Sunday (Lanegan/Johnson)

I feel your blood run cold
And it's a rainy Sunday morning
I count the million miles I'm driftin'
From here, to hell
Today

Behind their windows people stare
Can't recognize the kindness there
Just prayers for drownin' ships at sea
None for me
And you

It'll take a hard rain to wash your taste away
Still I wish there was a reason left to stay

I'm drunk half blind
And it's an ugly Sunday morning
The wind arrives with the clouds refusing to break
Apart, like me
Why if all the world's stopped turnin'
How can all this rain keep fallin'
Washin' me a million miles away
From you

Why if I'm so alone now
Is it getting hard, to say goodbye now
Goodbye now

GO TO SLEEP - Emeinem

"I ain't gonna eat, I ain't gonna sleep
Ain't gonna breathe, til I see, what I wanna see
And what I wanna see, is you go to sleep, in the dirt
Permanently, you just being hurt, this ain't gonna work
For me, it just wouldn't be, sufficient enough
Cuz we, are just gonna be, enemies
As long as we breathe, I don't ever see, either of us
Coming to terms, where we can agree
There ain't gonna be, no reason, speakin wit me
You speak on my seed, then me, no speakin Englais
So we gonna beef, and keep on beefin, unless
You're gonna agree, to meet with me in the flesh
And settle this face to face, and you're gonna see
A demon unleashed in me, that you've never seen
And you're gonna see, this gangsta pee on himself
I see you D-12, and thanks, but me need no help
Me do this one all by my lonely, I don't need fifteen of my homies
When I see you, I'm seeing you, me and you only
We never met, but best believe you gon' know me
When I'm this close, to see you exposed as phony
Come on, bitch, show me, pick me up, throw me
Lift me up, hold me, just like you told me
You was gonna do, that's what I thought, you're pitiful
I'm rid of you, all you, Ja, you'll get it too! "
..........

The rest is just cant be put on BTS because it so Gangsta !!

Another song that through repetation I have come to like ;

Decemberists- How I dream I was an Architect

and here i dreamt i was a soldier
and i marched the streets of Birkenau
and i recall in spring
the perfume that the air would bring
to the indolent town
where the barkers call the moon down
the carnival was ringing loudly now
and just to lay with you
there's nothing that i wouldn't do
save lay my rifle down

and try one, and try two
guess it always comes down to
alright, it's okay, guess it's better to turn this way

and i am nothing of a builder
but here i dreamt i was an architect
and i built this balustrade
to keep you home, to keep you safe
from the outside world
but the angles and the corners
even though my work is unparalelled
they never seemed to meet
this structure fell about our feet
and we were free to go

and try one, and try two
guess it always comes down to
alright, okay, guess it's better to turn this way

and here in spain i am a spaniard
i will be buried with my marionettes
countess and courtesan
will fall 'neath my tender hand
when their husbands were not around
but you, my soiled teenage girlfriend
or are you furrowed like a lioness
and we are vagabonds
we travel without seatbelts on
we live this close to death

and try one, and try two
guess it always comes down to
alright, okay, guess it's better to turn this way
but i won, so you lose
guess it always comes down to you
alright, it's okay, guess it's better to turn this way

Would that be these (amazing) lyrics nrky?

Chorus from "Mass Destruction" by Faithless

Whether long range weapon or suicide bomber
Wicked mind is a weapon of mass destruction
Whether you're soar away sun or BBC 1
Misinformation is a weapon of mass destruction
You could a Caucasian or a poor Asian
Racism is a weapon of mass destruction
Whether inflation or globalization
Fear is a weapon of mass destruction

Whether Halliburton or Enron or anyone
Greed is a weapon of mass destruction
We need to find courage, overcome
Inaction is a weapon of mass destruction

'Well we've got no class,
and we've got no principles,
...
We can't even think of a word that rhymes.' Alice Cooper.

Cher 'Half-breed'

My father married a pure cherokee
My mother's people were ashamed of me
The indians said i was white by law
The white man always called me "indian squaw"

Chorus:
Half-breed, that's all i ever heard
Half-breed, how i learned to hate the word
Half-breed, she's no good they warned
Both sides were against me since the day i was born

We never settled, went from town to town
When you're not welcome you don't hang around
The other children always laughed at me
"give her a feather, she's a cherokee"

We weren't accepted and i felt ashamed
Nineteen i left them, tell me who's to blame
My life since then has been from man to man
But i can't run away from what i am

Queens Of The Stone Age - Avon

I see you go
Through a park in a haze
I don’t listen
For traffic going the same way
A simple system
I string em up
I cut em down
Dare I say

A perfect vision
Some simple ways to let you know
Free range humans all cooped up
Naked clone is playing lame
I string em up
I cut em down
Dare I say

I think this DK's song sums up perfectly what think2much said earlier:

Chickens*** Conformist - Lryics by Jello Biafra, 1986.

Punk's not dead
It just deserves to die
When it becomes another stale cartoon
A close-minded, self-centred social club
Ideas don't matter, it's who you know

If the music's gotten boring
It's because of the people
Who want everyone to sound the same

Who drive the bright people out
Of our so-called scene
'Til all that's left
Is just a meaningless fad

Hardcore formulas are dogs***
Change and caring are what's real
Is this a state of mind
Or just another label

The joy and hope of an alternative
Has become it's own cliche
A hairstyle's not a lifestyle
Imagine Sid Vicious at 35

Who needs a scene
Scared to love and to feel
Judging everything
By loud fast rules appeal

Who played last night?
"I don't know, I forgot
But diving off the stage
Was a lot of fun"

So eager to please
Peer pressure decrees
So eager to please
Peer pressure decrees
Make the same old mistakes
Again and again
Chickens*** conformist
Like your parents

What's ripped us apart even more than drugs
Are the thieves and the goddamn liars
Ripping people off when they share their stuff
Whan someone falls are the any friends?

Harder core than thou for a year or two
Then it's time to get a real job
Others stay home, it's no fun to go out
When the gigs are wrecked by gangs and thugs

When the thugs form bands, look who gets record deals
From New York metal labels looking to scam
Who sign the most racist, queer-bashing bands they can find
To make a buck revving kids up for war

Walk tall, act small
Only as tough a gang approval
Unity is bulls***
When it's under someone's fat boot

Where's the common cause
Too many factions
Safely sulk in their shells
Agree with us on everything
Or we won't help with anything
That kind of attitude
Just makes a split grow wider

Guess who's laughing while the world explodes
When we're all crybabies
Who fight best among ourselves

So eager to please
Peer pressure decrees
So eager to please
Peer pressure decrees
Make the same old mistakes
Again and again
Chickens*** conformist
Like your parents

That farty old rock 'n' roll attitudes back
"It's competition, man, we wanna break big"
Who needs friends when the money's good
That's right, the 70's are back

Cock-rock metal's like a bad laxative
It just don't move me, ya know?
The music's OK when there's more ideas than solos
Do we really need the attitude too?

Shedding thin skin too quickly
As a fan it disappoints me
Same old stupid sexist lyrics
Or is Satan all you can think of?

Crossover's just another word
For lack of ideas
Maybe what we need
Are more trolls under the bridge
Will the metalheads finally learn something--
Or will the punks throw away their education?

No-one's ever the best
Once they believe their own press
"Maturing" don't mean rehashing
Mistakes of the past

So eager to please
Peer pressure decrees
So eager to please
Peer pressure decrees
Make the same old mistakes
Again and again
Chickens*** conformist
Like your parents

The more things change
The more they stay the same
We can't grow
When we won't criticize ourselves
The 60's weren't all failure
It's the 70's that stunk
As the clock ticks we dig the same hole

Music scenes ain't real life
They won't get rid of the bomb
Won't eliminate rape
Or bring down the banks
Any kind of real change
Takes more time and work
Than changing channels on a TV set

So why are we so
Eager to please
Peer pressure decrees
So eager to please
Peer pressure decrees
Make the same old mistakes
Again and again

Chickens*** conformist
Like your parents

"Bedtime for Democracy", the final DK's album. Songs such as the one above, Anarchy for Sale, Do the Slag, Where Do Ya Draw the Line? Show a complete disdain for the the scene that many held so much hope for. Unfortunately things are far worse now, with "punk" made commercially viable. Our TV's are drenched with bands that look the part, but lyrically are the same as Michael Bolton.

OMG I nearly peed my pants reading that Michael Bolton bit! LMAO!

I will say this though, that there was NOTHING wrong with getting PAID though. Getting PAID is not selling out-or becoming comercialized. It's simply economics.

I don't care if you want a band to reach a wider audience for a greater cause, spread a social message, or just want to feed and clothe the poor bastards so they can make a life out of it while you enjoy their political, social, or comedic perspective via their thrashing music...I really hated it when kids in the scene (I'm in my 30's so I was in the music scene in the 80's) didn't want to fork out cash to see a band. Buy a leather jacket, some Doc Martin boots, and pay for tatooes and piercings sure, but then bitch bitch bitch about some band charging $10 at the door-WTF?

Oh, thats right "real" punk bands shouldn't be concerned about getting PAID. thats just bulls***!!!! Nothing oppressed the scene better than convincing the kids that "success" financially meant comercialization and selling out. I just wholeheartedly disagreed with that obviously oppressive force-fed bull! It made the kids bite the hand that fed them, but I'll try not to go off on that subject here and now

Though, WTF do I know...I LOVE Green Day. hehehe Especially American Idiot (I should be shot!)

How about a bit off Offspring

SOMETHING TO BELIEVE IN - from SMASH LP

I believe that reality's gone
Disillusion's real
I believe that morality's gone
And there's nothing to feel
If you take the sacred things
The things that we hold dear
Empty promise is all you'll find
So give me something

Something to believe in

I believe in a changing of the guard
Put our feet on the ground
See it happen in your own backyard
Everything breaks down
Do you accept what you are told
Without even thinking
Throw it all and make your own
And give me something

Something to believe in

Where they lead
You will follow
Well I guess that's just the way it goes
And if you look away
You'll be doing what they say
And if you look alive
You'll be singled out and tried
If you take home anything
Let it be your will to think
The more cynical you become
The better off you'll be

Something to believe in

Great song!

Here's a great track by Tumor Circus. An appropriate song for this site:

Hazing for Success, Lyrics by Jello Biafra, 1991

Good grooming requires
Time-honored methods
Of ritual humiliation and torture
Wanna play with the big boys?
Ya gotta be mean
And bow to the Masonic fez

Secret society
By invitation only
Fraternal order
Of the Skull and Bones
Just like your daddy
It's your turn, George
We think you might belong
In our Animal House

You're picked for the Skull and Bones
C'mon down
And strip for the Skull and Bones
C'mon down
And show us what your made of, George
C'mon down
Maybe you can be one of us

While our families make laws
On what not to do
We do it all
Inside the Lodge
Brick building with no windows
Where Jolly Rogers romp
In the heart of the campus
Of green, green Yale

Inside we possess
Nazi memorabilia
And the stolen skull of Geronimo
Apaches tried
To get it back
We switched and gave 'em someone elses
Used cranium instead
Ha! Ha!

Pancho Villa's might be lying
Around here too
We brothers have no secrets
We lie to everyone else

So tell your sexual history
And what you'd do to which
Sorority girls
When we've all reached Washington

To plunder for the Skull and Bones
C'mon down
Mud wrestle with the Skull and Bones
Peel down
Show us everthing you're made of, George
Get down
Only then will you be one of us

The world is our casino
We inherit the broth
Not much left to conquer or crave
We don't already got

I snuck into the study
Of the Dad I barely know
Watched Ilsa, She-Wolf of the SS on his video

Knew then old boy networks of power
Was the life for me
Nothing we cause touches us
'Cept when we lose money

For kicks we kick around the globe
Start a war if we're going broke
Supply both sides, watch 'em choke
Blood of the WASP runs thick as oil

Yo ho ho ho, Yo ho ho ho
Ho ho ho ho, ho ho ho

Shut up! Shut up!
I am not a wimp
I ain't no wimp
Read my lips...

That's it George
It's your turn George
You know the rules
You know the rules

Down with your pants
Unzip your fly
Let's all have a look
At the old school tie

We'll circle jerk
Into a coffin
But you gotta go first , George
We want to watch

That's it, George
Harder, George
More, George
Pump, George

You're gonna cum, George
All over the 3rd Reich memorabilia
Squirt some icing
On Geronimo and Pancho over there
Yeah, George...Ah...Ah...Ah - Weeeee!

That's it, George
We knew you had it in ya
Smile that sick smile again, George
We got some pork rinds
Broccoli-flavored, your favorite
Sticky though it may be

Now we know
You've got what it takes
To lead...

Yeah... Fraternities... Gotta love 'em? Hate 'em? Good lyrics...

Going to infect you all with some Dave Matthews lyrics... *WARNING* Don't read any further unless you are a masochist!!!

Oh

The world is blowing up
The world is caving in
The world has lost her way again
But you are here with me
But you are here with me
Makes it ok

I hear you still talk to me
As if you're sitting in that dusty chair
Makes the hours easier to bare
I know despite the years alone
I'll always listen to you sing your sweet song
And if it's all the same to you

I love you oh so well
Like a kid loves candy and fresh snow
I love you oh so well
Enough to fill up heaven overflow and fill hell
Love you oh so well

And it's cold and darkness falls
It's as if you're in the next room so alive
I could swear I hear you singing to me

I love you oh so well
Like a kid loves candy and fresh snow
I love you oh so well
Enough to fill up heaven overflow and fill hell
Love you oh so well

The world is blowing up
The world is caving in
The world has lost her way again
But you are here with me
But you are here with me
Makes it ok
Oh girl you are singing to me still
Like a kid loves candy and fresh snow
I love you oh so well
Enough to fill up heaven overflow and fill hell
Love you oh so well
