Kim Jong-Il has secretly left North Korea on a rare trip out of his country to neighboring China, according to intelligence sources within China. It
is not known why he made the journey.

SEOUL, South Korea - North Korean leader Kim Jong Il has traveled to China on a rare trip outside his country, a South Korean military intelligence
official said Tuesday.
The official told The Associated Press he received the information from intelligence inside China. The official spoke on condition his name not be
used because of the sensitivity of the information.
“We confirmed he went to China,” the official said. “We don’t know why.”

I think this is very interesting. Has China summoned him to tell him to be cooperative in the six-party nuclear talks, or could this be a
strengthening of ties as a prelude to some type of Chinese action possibly against Taiwan?
