HIV Bombers

Al Qaeda is recruiting individuals infected with the AIDS virus to conduct suicide bombings. Their hope is to increase the death toll of victims near the bombing. Soldiers have been warned to wear protective clothing when conducting guard duty.



Unfortunately, I can see Al Qaeda doing this. What suprises me is that they would use people infected with AIDS(A population known to have a high number of Homosexuals). I thought this would go against the ideas of Islam. Well, would these guys be blessed with 20 hairy, sweaty, virgin men in Heaven? The $64,000 question.

Saying that using homosexuals because of their religion, I dont even think the ones who run Al-Qaeda are religious, they just appear to be and use islam to achieve their objectives, ever read The Prince?

The Sunday Mirror is a rag, and this is pretty much in keeping with the usual sensationalist nonsense they print. Notice on how they don't mention what document they have or who their sources are? That because they can pretty much make things up and the army will never comment on operational matters.

Terror chiefs are also targeting fanatics who suffer other lethal blood diseases such as hepatitis and dengue fever in order to increase their "kill rate" from an explosion

This sounds like pure urban legend. The only things that will increase the "kill rate" are using a bigger bomb or setting it off near more people. As far as I am aware there is not one single documented case of a disease being transmitted from a suicide bomber to a victim.

HIV isn't even very infectious....the blood from the suicide bomber would have to go directly into someone elses open wound, and even then it wouldn't be sure that they would be infected. Would anyone like to guess at the odds of this happening? Must be billions to one. Does blood come off suicide bombers, or are their wounds cauterised by the explosion?

Experts have found that bones and other blood-spattered fragments from a suicide bomber could penetrate the skin of a victim 50 metres away and infect them.

I would love to hear who their "experts" are or on what scientific research they are basing their opinion on.

This is just another chapter from the religon of peace. It also goes to prove that they will go to any lengths to press or impose their religon upon everyone who disagrees with them. Using HIV infected suicide bombers is just about as disgusting as their claim of getting 72 virgins when they die. I've got a surprise for them; they may just get them virgins when they die but where they end up they are going to need plenty of sunscreen and marshmellows.

And Flyin High, not all Muslims are fanatics. Some would take offense to your sarcastic label "Religon of Peace." Some people will argue that Christians that kill is a bit of an oxymoron as well.

It is my understanding that HIV can be transmitted by the blood of an infected person enter an open wound of another person. When a suicide bomber detonates his bomb his body becomes shrapnel. I don't know if the virus would survive the explosion but I'm betting that it would. In my opinion this is a real threat and shouldn't be taken lightly. If someone is willing to die for their beliefs, however misguided, what is to stop them from purposefully infecting themselves with HIV? This not only puts the original victims of the bombing at risk, it also puts rescuers and medical personel at risk.

I too would like to know the names of these "experts" Wouldnt the heatwave produced by the bomb kill off the bacteria? Wouldnt the suicide bombers remands mostly be burnt stakes after the act? Wouldnt most of the victims wounds be burns? Maybe if the bomber swollows a pound of BBs it might have some minimal effect.

Outside the body the HIV virus is quite fragil, the heat generated from the explosion vaporises most of the body and anyone in the blast radius that could be affected by splatter would already be dead from the concusion.

The threat of someone blowing themsevles up near you should not be taken lightly, especially if you are in Iraq. However the last thing you will be worrying about, should you be unfortunate enough to be in that position, would be catching a disease from the homicidal lunatic.

Can this tactic even work? I'd think it'd be rather difficult to actually pick up the disease this way.

During my civil service i worked at a hospital in the Lab. They did all blood tests there and from what i remember is that you need a certain payload of HI Viruses to get infected.

So the possibility to get infected with a single shrapnel is pretty low..the human immune system eliminates the virus without a problem when it arrives in low numbers. It only gets really dangerous at a certain threshold.

And as FatherLukeDuke already stated the virus is highly unstable outside the human body, besides the fact that the heat of a bomb will destroy most of the cells i assume.

I heard there was a mistranslation and that it mean 72 year old virgin. or the Prophet meant 72 angels to be messed with. Wonder what Allah has to say about it.

And I dont totally crap about Islam. Its just something to make fun of Islamic extremists who promise the supposedly 72 virgins that Allah promised. If you believe that. Even many Muslim scholars are debating about this 72 virgin thing.
