6.9 in Mozambique in Africa (not seen one there at all for me) will do a bit more research on it

(hmm not near a fault line, these bigguns can happen anywhere :-( Britain will be next, i have a bad feeling about this)

Has there been a tsunami alert for Madagascar and Western Australia? I would think the location and the magnitude would prompt a warning...

ive redited my post, but yeah could cause a tsunami from from the location possibly ? smack bang for madacascar, eeek its getting worrying

Upgraded to a 7.5 been a few 5+ aftershocks as well, I think it was a bit far inland to cause a tsunami and as shallow as it was it's a good thing it was.

Geography of Mozambique:

Geographic coordinates 18 15 S, 35 00 E
Location Southern Africa, bordering the Mozambique Channel, between South Africa and Tanzania
Terrain mostly coastal lowlands, uplands in center, high plateaus in northwest, mountains in west
Highest Point Monte Binga 2,436 m
Natural hazards severe droughts and floods occur in central and southern provinces; devastating cyclones
Volcanic Activity No volcanoes

Source: Volcanolive

So, what does this means? Mozambique is not a common place to experience earthquakes.

Even though, I found the following, taken place on July the 17th, 2002.
Magnitude 5.0 (on the coast)

Location 11.80S 40.87E, Depth 10.0 kilometers

Reference 40 miles (65 km) NNE of Ibo, Mozambique
115 miles (185 km) SSE of Mtwara, Tanzania

The Mozambique Channel can experience earthquakes and the coast, but inlands?

Sometimes we have a really unusual tectonic shaking...

Has anyone heard what is going on in LosAngeles its really strange, Its not an earthquake but to me it seems there could be some sort of Volcanic activity going on underneath, the sidewalks heated up today to 103 degrees with all this black goo they called it spilling up and they evacutated a lot of people! Here is the link, rather interesting! They have had quakes periodically though!

Angel. that's been disucssed. It was found that an oil drilling site, I believe, near the area where the goo was oozing out was mixing hot water with excess crude oil and that was oozing up from the sewers. Something to that effect.
