John Bonham- Zepp, just awesome skins.
Roger Taylor- Good drummer, songwriter and singer.
Bill Ward- Sabbath, see Bonham.
Neil Peart- Rush, probably the best technical drummer I've heard.

5- Too many, who's #5?

You tell me.

What! A "best drummer list" with Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa and Ginger Baker?
Sacrilege! Of course it's hard to come up with a list of only the best five drummers......I guess I'll stick with MY three picks. Now who would the other two best drummers be?

Ok, I'm filling in #5, it was so damn obvious I don't know how I missed him. Probably the best drummer to come onto the scene in the last 20 years, maybe 30.

Dave Grohl

I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad when he sat behind the kit again on the Queens of the Stoneage CD.

I know what you're saying BT, my folks turned me onto Rich and Krupa, probably why I like drum work so much but it's kinda like apples and oranges.

You're all missing Meshuggah's drummer, Tomas Haak. The guy is a machine!

Also, Mike Smith (Suffocate) deserves to be in the top five!

I'd have to say Buddy Rich too.

Has anyone seen his one-handed rolls on his left, with traditional grip? He doesn't use rim or anything, but just twists his index and middle finger or something funky like that. He's awesome in general but that's always fascinated me in particular. XD

I'd just like to add one more to the list

Kieth Moon--The Who

Benevolent Tyrant says:

"...Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa and Ginger Baker..."

Absolutely; none of the others mentioned here are even in the same league as Krupa and Rich; and if there's a better pure rock drummer than Ginger Baker (especially with some of his work on Disraeli Gears), I can't figure out whom it might be.

I might add Shelley Manne to that list, though, as well.

Offthestreet, thanks for including S. Manne. May I offer somebody that gets no respect also: Jo Jones.

1) Seb Rochford - Acoustic Ladyland/Polar Bear. Anyone see Acoustic Ladyland live on Jools Holland a few months back? He's 1000x more awesome to see live. He's so quick you can't hardly see him move! and his hair rules.

2) John Bonham
3) Dave Grohl
4)Mitch Mitchell
5)Ginger Baker

How did I know you were gonna say him?!

Slipknots drummer cant remember his name mark or somthing

His name is Joey Jordison. The man's a machine... he can play drums (VERY well), Bass, Guitar and he can sing. If he had 6 arms, he'd be a one man band.

David Ghroll-Q.O.T.S.A.

He's not their drummer. He filled in for their old one on an album.

You've heard of this little band out of Seattle called Nirvana, right?

Indeed I have, I grew up on them (thanks to my Mum
) But I felt no need to mention them as we were discussion Queens of the Stone Age.
