Could ancient gods be aliens?

Humans are a relatively superstitious group of primates. We are always looking for something inherently more simplistic and ordered then are rather complex and random universe. 2,000 years ago we needed gods to describe the workings of the world, 2,000 years later we are replace one supernatural entity with another. Aliens are the same as angels, demons, elves, pixies, leprechauns etc etc. We made a modern supernatural being, and now are trying to shoehorn it into our creation to make an easier understanding of our origin.

If aliens had visited our world and settled long enough to blend our DNA, we would see something. When they left they needed to leave something man could not have built, even if it was just their trash. We see no evidence, nothing. It's just another religion.
