The meeting ended and the Euro wasn't even mentioned.

For all of you who are looking for links to OPEC news, why not just go straight to their website?

www.opec.org...

You can find minutes of the meeting here.
The only thing that stands out is the "extraordinary meeting" that they are calling for December. But I would think this as being natural due to the fact that Iraq should be making an impact on the world oil markets by then.

There is the problem, Tealec. American short sightedness. They dont think of long term benefits. they only think NOW. They forgot how to sacrifice. Nothing is gained without a sacrifice.

If America doesnt stop thinking short term, we will be irreversably doomed, period.

So, an American depression would be bad in the short term. But the long term benefits and changes will be far better. We need the fluffy rug ripped out from us so we can appreciate how utterly stupid and small minded we have been.

The long term is what matters. The short term is irrelevant.

And we are far too big, even weakened, to invade as a country, plus we have an armed population. I do not believe there is a dictator or madman on this planet that even considers trying to invade the US, because it would cost more than its worth.

We dont have enough oil to make it worth thier while.

If what you are talking about happens Skadi, it will most likely end up going further than what I was looking at. With a depression, they would try to control it with Fema and Concentration camps. If it were a full "system collapse" that you predict, I see it being (oh boy, john titor would love this) an all out civil war, US Govt vs US citizens.

The govt would start by trying to take control in making new laws. First thing take in freedoms of press, speech and right to bear arms. Second thing would be citizens fighting back. They would make it no further.

Militaries and police would more or less be forced to decide which side they were fighting for. Freedom (citizens) or Govt. This would be no small scale civil war like north versus south. There would be not, WEST won ot EAST won. There would be no winners at all.

After a while of this, the "enemies" of the US govt in other countries would see the vulnerability, and attack, kicking off WW3.

Basically, it boils down to only a few things (that unfortunately, you and I have no control over). Oil currency staying in dollars, or going to euro. Iraq being rebuilt successfully or failing miserably. US economy floating by, or falling through.

We have only our "leaders" (term used loosly) to thank for our wonderful perdicament.

In a total economic failure of the US economy, FEMA wouldnt have a chance. the entire system would be ruined, it would collapse. Again, I ask, how would they pay the Fema agents, the soldiers, police, ect? The money would be worthless. Thus, economic collapse would put them down on the level as the rest of us. With no money, they have no power. Soldiers who arent getting paid probably aint gonna stay around to drive tanks and execute people. Cops are gonna simply hole up in thioer own homes, protecting thier families, or, form thier own police.

Civil war is exactly what Im talking about. The govornment VS the people.

Even in a civil war, the chances of outsiders coming in to bother us is slim. Unlike us, the rest of the world knows the dangers of getting involved in civil wars. Not only that, but in the event of US economic collapse, the other nations would be hard pressed simply trying to keep thier own economies going. Remeber, the US imports alot of goods. WQith no mroe US market, they will have alot of # they will have to find new buyers for. Investments must be pulled out or lost.

The US is in little danger from outside direct invasion. We are, however, vulerable to other forms of interference.

When you look at the instability of American society from within, add the collapse of the economy, and we might have our shot.
