xeroxed88 asked on another thread what a good gift for his girlfriend would be for Christmas.
Now I need some help with what to buy my fiance.
Men are so much harder to buy for! And I know the men will disagree, but I can hardly send beer and sexual favours in the mail to him in Japan

I am sending him a 2-part photo frame with pics of us when he was here last in the mail for Christmas as he won't be here til January but I would like to have something for him when he gets here also.

Anybody have some good ideas ?

Well he's in the Navy and loves Military movies and books.

hmmm any idea's on things I could get apart from movies and books that pertain to the military though ? I think he has more than enough of those lol

He likes motorcycles but I can't afford one of those right now lol

He did mention collecting candles a while ago, don't think he does anymore althought not sure because his stuff was always packed up when I was at his house in Hawaii (travels alot). There's an idea though.

oh and he's into me
hehe ....
ok just gave myself some ideas haha lol But please do share, I really appreciate this

I've got the lingerie covered
That's a present he gets every day we are together (Where's the blushing emoticon ? lol)

I listed some of his interests above, oh and he alsolikes jigsaw puzzles and board games. I will search for some online tonight, see if I can't find something military-based.

Still encouraging ideas though
thanks guys

You're welcome.

The lingerie is a winner, in my opinion.

Maybe you should buy him something to remind him of you when he's away?

Tom Clancy videogame. I think australia banned those( your from australia right?) games but thats what I think guys like. Not just me I have seen grown men who religious beliefs do not involve killing play them.

New movie? nah no don't get him that. '

I can't really say cause all I want is videogames. But still adult men still play the Tom Clancy ones. That would be funny if you got him Transporter 2. I don't know if he likes that but whatever. It has A LOT of action. like every 5 seconds.

my girlfriend those in the past and my current) and her friends say i get some of the best gifts ever...
does he like any video games, electronics, favorite author(or subject), music, hobbies?

also, i work at a liquor store, and if you know a favorite drink its kinda nice if you guys could get a nice drink to share at a semi-romantic moment (unless you aren't drinkers of course)

but i need more details besides military bc ya cant get him a gun, unless he's a hunter and wants one... but i dont feel like guns make good gifts for lovers

I say "all hail Tom Clancy" still. Does he like stealth action? SWAT type action? or does he like U.S. Army style action? Cause my best bet is Rainbow Six games. Maybe Rainbow Six Lockdown. Thats the new one. Its got an international crew of guys and such. Like one from germany. One from israel. One from US. Very very very very addicting game. Its kind of stealthy though, not all out action. But still involves quite a lot of killing. Oh yes, you just can't run and gun. Its really realistic. Thats why I like it.

Tell me what kind of action he likes. Does he like airplane or infantry action. If he like infantry than just follow the above. If he likes fighter planes than I have no clue cause I don't play fighter plane games.

On the video game subject:

If he's into stealth infantry type stuff, i recommend "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon"

Hell, buy him an XBOX360... if he was like me, he'd be well happy with one of those beasts!

it better come soon!

and hey, jaded

if he likes video games a 360 will make him drool
but they are going for about 800us bucks on ebay

where are you from?

If your gonna get him ghost recon, wait till february. Buy him an Xbox 360 than get advanced warfighter2. Way better than the other crappier verisons. IF your gonna get him something for comp or reg xbox get him Rainbow Six 3 or Rainbow Six lockdown. Way better than the available versions of Ghost Recon. Rainbow Six was voted the most addictig and challenging game on xbox live and computer.

Well...girlfriend...personally I don't think you could ever go wrong
by helping him to "build his bar" or to "start builing his bar". Especially,
if he entertains, and he doesn't have these things already.

In other words, get him some really nice tailored, elegant barware:
bar accessories, champagne glasses, wine glasses, decanters, beer mugs/
steins, etc... preferably up-scale things he'd be proud to entertain his
friends with, and you wouldn't mind drinking from yourself.

Remember: Keep it masculine! Hopefully nice crystal, and not those frilly
etched cut glass things!! You know the ones with the diamond shapes in
the glass? ewww!

Shop around... you can get really great things and not have to pay a
lot for them. Klinq.com has some great stuff, and this time of year Amazon
marks down a lot of their finer glassware, etc..

It's always worked for me!

Yes we do, he is in Japan and I am in Australia, he will be here again to see me in January
(!!!)

lol yes guns are not romantic, you're killin me!

We shall definitely have a toast with something nice when he is here, we do like to do that.
The lingerie, wine, baths, massages etc etc is all taken care of

I was just thinking about something nice to buy him.
And yep I thought of an XBox360, but my see my rant thread about my car
I am in for a bit of damage there financially. Plus I am not sure if he wants to buy one in Japan for use there or wait until he gets back to the US.
I know he has a couple of PS2's and the 1st Xbox, are those games available on there ? CT thanks for the heads up

He likes army/war games, I like the fighting ones
lol not sure if he is fussy with what kinda action it is, but I will do my duty and pay attention and find out, thanks CT!

xeroxed which is "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon"available on ? Excuse my video-game-ignorance lol

WalksThroughTime, excellent suggestion! that's great, and definitely something he (we lol) can enjoy having. I do plan to be over there living with him in the very near future (God willing) so that is something I can do once I am there in the house and decorating and such - He is moving in very soon but says he's putting off until I get there so we can furnish together
thanks for that!

Thank you all, you've been a great help

It's available on PlayStation 2, XBOX, PC, Game Cube... but, I'd stick with the xbox.

Here's a list of the Ghost Recon games (on xbox) and their reviews.

Ghost Recon 1
Average Rating: 8.4 (Great)
Ghost Recon makes excellent use of the Xbox Live service, giving it replay value well beyond that of its PC counterpart.

Ghost Recon: Island Thunder
Average Rating: 7.9 (Good)
Tactical shooter fans would certainly do well to give Island Thunder a look.

Ghost Recon 2
Average Rating: 8.5 (Great)
Though Ghost Recon purists may find a lot to complain about in the sequel's entertaining but shallow single-player campaign, they should ultimately be mollified by the terrific multiplayer game.

Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike
Average Rating: 8.2 (Good)
Summit Strike is every bit as enjoyable as its predecessor, with a varied campaign, wide-open levels, and a wealth of multiplayer options and modes.

There's also a new Ghost Recon game out on February 1 2006 for the XBOX and X360 called, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.

Hope this helps

i agree with walks...
a nice set of glasses and stiens are a very good gift...

my girlfriend's brother has one of these:

www.kitchenkapers.com...

that with a couple of his favorite liquors and some glasses
i think would be excellent

like walks said, something manly
bc everyguy is gonna have friends who will be impressed with this
its practical, ya know?

also i was gonna suggest a nice winter coat, but im from upstate NY, USA and it snows here...alot... so i donno what your climate is like
but a nice black jacket to go with all kinds of outfits is good... just make sure its something his taste

i think this is a better path to go down compared to video games and movies...

let us know what you think

(i think im gonna get my brother that drink dispenser now that i think about it)

Thank you everyone, I really do apprecaite your suggestions, I am quite impressed

I may just use them all and buy him a little something here and there, the bar set up for his birthday and/or christmas, the jacket (I do love to buy men's clothing, and that way I can ensure he is dressed well altho he is anyway lol
) and the video games for "just because' pressies.

Thanks again everyone, your all gems!
