On Meet the Press the other day Joe Biden gave the impression that he was going to make a run at the White House in '08. I'm pretty stoked about this. My question to you is do you think Biden can beat out Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination? Biden will destroy anybody in a debate, but as we saw in '04 with Bush/Kerry being a dominant debater doesn't assure one the Presidency.

Biden in '08!!!

How will he deal with the old charges of plagiarism? I'm sure those will come up again if he runs.

Dj, Russert brought that up a while back on MTP and Biden took responsibility for it. I think he'll continue to do so. There's really no other way around that. Honesty is always the best policy. Biden's smart enough to not give the Republican machine any ammunition if he can help it. I'm sure they'll find enough dirt on their own.

Good for him, I guess I must have missed that.

I'm sure Hillary's attack machine in the primaries will be just as tough as any Republican one in the general election, but I really don't see Biden as a serious threat to her. If she gets any real competition for the Democratic nomination, it'll most likely come from a more conservative southern Democrat governor. Mark Warner is looking pretty good now after he got his buddy elected and is going out with skyhigh poll numbers.

I think Biden could do it. He certainly has my support!!! I think many people dislike Hillary. I do. I wouldn't support her.

Biden in '08 sounds great, though!!

DJ, as long as that X is strobing in your signature, I will not read your posts. Think you could slow it down?

Alright, the story is pretty much over now anyway, it's gone

Rudolph Giuliani would have a better chance if he runs, and I'm sure "Devil Woman" will hate it if he decides to.
I think that Hillary's decision to run is because that's the only way she can return all the things they stole without drawing a lot of attention. I'd rather they keep the stuff.

Absolutely! Biden can beat out Hillary for the nomination. I will predict that Hillary will not even be a factor on the Democratic primaries, to Biden or anybody else.

Oh Come ON!!!

Hillary won't be a factor, she'll be the factor! She is beatable in the Dem primary, but not by another northern liberal like Biden.

That is just my prediction. Even if she does end up winning the Democratic nomination, that will insure a Republican victory. There is no way that she is going to win the South in a general Presidential election, and for a democrat to win the Presidency they have to carry the South.

I think so too. If I had to put money on something I'd say it'll be McCain/Rice vs. Hillary/? in the 2008 general election with McCain/Rice winning.

Of course it's so early anything could happen.

Not even remotely true. Kerry's solid win's plus Ohio is the White House.

Or scratch Ohio and add Dean's Western Platform states. Really though, I can't see Ohio NOT going blue for a long, long time given the Republican scandals there, so it's a done deal unless Republicans win NY or California or another dem stronghold. [cue laughter]

RANT ... are you trying to tell us that Kerry will win?

Rant, Rant, Rant. It's the Hillary machine that's in full
speed ahead, and she's going to take it. She already has.
Kerry won't even make it at the primaries.

Biden will run. He won't make it. Old issues of plagerism
and his stupid statements about surrender and pull out of
Iraq (ala Vietnam) have already closed the door on him.
I'd rather have him then Hillary, but he won't make it.

Hillary is already the dems nominee for 2008. She is their
best candidate. She's capable. I can't stand her, but she
is capable. Kerry isn't.

The ONLY republican that could give Hillary a run for it is
Rudy Guiliani. He MIGHT be able to take it from her, but
even that I doubt.

It's Madam President in 2008 - like it or not - and I don't.
(At least it won't be Kerry or Kennedy ... I can console
myself with that!)

** My guess for VP is McCain. He'll cross over and
be her VP. He'll stay a republican and what they will
say is that they are 'bringing back the old days of
bipartisanship' when there was a president from one
party and a VP from the other party. They'll make it
all sound nice.

No, I'm saying blue states from 2004 (Kerry's wins) plus Ohio is the election.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh. Okay. So who gets YOUR liberal vote in
2008? Will it be Biden? Will it be Kerry? I know it won't be
Hillary unless she's the nominee for the dems. Wanna' share?

The democratic party has no hope with either of these candidates imo.

If I was an American Citizen the democrats wouldnt get my vote if they were on the ticket.

I would personally like to see someone like Bernie Sanders (currently my favourite US politician), John Conyers or even Al Gore run again.

The thing that Biden has going for him is that he's unbelievably charismatic. I mean he's right up there with Bill Clinton as far as that goes. That will go a long way with voters.

Even if Biden can't beat Hillary, I think he'd make a great Secretary of State.

In my female opinion, Biden makes Clinton look like a cold fish.

And besides being totally hot, he's a great candidate for president.

I was going to write "that will go a long way with women voters" but I didn't want it to come off the wrong way.
My g/f thinks he's hot for an "older" guy too.

From a personal perspective I respect his ability to communicate.
