Of course not, i was under the impression that there was an end , but if you try and explore it to find out if there is an end then you'll be there for ever.

Space to me is like an endless world.

How about 'where does it begin?'

Confusing question there.

There was also a thread on the legal definition of where the earth's atmosphere ends and space begins. The definition being worked on is a legal battle between the US and China.

What fun.

Conquer "space" in the name of your country, not your planet. Surely it would be better to conquer it for your corporation if you are a capitalist.

Space ends in the mind. It does not need to end in reality, and it is too difficult for a mere human to consider this concept of infinity.

space is like a rainbow no matter how near you get your always far away

I beleive space to be a continueous loop, i think that it curves back on itself, and eventually ends up back where it started.

Space is space... thats why they call it ... space.

Well Im not sure about where it ends, if it even ends, but since we are humans and call Earth our home, I think for us, the reference point or the origin in space is Earth. So you could say space for us, humans, begins outside the atmosphere of our planet

urgh -i've thought about this so many times and it always messes up my head. I've always thought space to be never ending ...
I recently had a discussion about this with someone though and they thought space to actually be a shape. ...
But for it to be a shape there has to be something outside of that shape to define it as such ...
well thats what i would have thought anyway - and it would mean that space exists within something ...

space is infinite, everlasting and never ends.

if space is never ending wouldnt that mean that its still being created somewhere?

ihatethisplace, things are still being created in space as we speak.

You know I really think this is not a question that can be answered with factual backup.
This is highly theoretical. We really have no way of knowing.
We can guess. We can use some things we know to make a more educated guess, however it is still a guess never the less.
The idea of something going on without end is a hard concept for the human mind to grasp and we try to encompass that with the word and property of infinity... however... infinity is just a word for a unknown that boggles the mind .
my guess is that it has no end., although I cannot imagine how that is possble.
You're making my brain hurt now.

There is an end to space, but by the time it would be possible to reach it, it would have 'moved'/expanded..
The expansion of the universe (please feel free to correct) is at the speed of light, so in theory, since currently we cannot reach such speeds (e=mc^2, infinite energy needed to accelerate mass to said speed), and even if we could, we would become energy, it is effectively endless

Yes that's true. For me something must be outside it.

I always think of it as a flattened sphere with almost a donut hole in the center... Just like trying to walk off the end of the earth, eventually, you simply come back to where you started...

Outside of the universe? Nothing...nonexistence... Why is comprehending the end being outside of the universe any more acceptable than the universe simply being the limit of existance? Why must there always be more?

It's a paradox that if there is something outside space, there has to be something outside outside space and so on. So "space" is eternal anyway, but if you apply a three dimensional thinking space must be created in a nameable outside. Maybe Einstein did solve those things.

I have strange view,
I believe "space", the universe, is composed of several humogous "cubes" of universe.
Black holes are simply "tunnels" or more commonly knows as "wormholes" between these universes...
Once a galaxy hits the end of the universe, it bounces back, thus, you have a Big Boom at the end when everything recollides and the universe i destroyed.

I'm sure someone can prove me wrong, but it's my take on it.
Cheers,
- Tass
