Douglas Adams said this best when he described the number of planets in the universe as none. Reason being that if space is infinite and we know that
not all space is occupied by planets then the volume of planets is smaller than the volume of space and any number smaller than infinity is as close
to zero as makes any difference. Therefore the simple fact that we can count some planets renders space not infinite, as least in the way most people
percieve ie, it just keeps on going & going...
