I saw a show a few years ago that discussed the former Soviet Union's tests to use Poltergeist for military applications.

In one test they tried to get a poltergeist to move a pocket watch from a chair to a dresser. It was discussed that the research was ended because the poltergeist would not reliably do what the researchers wanted. It was also reported that the watch was moved, but that accuracy and consistancy was very low.

I have been thinking about this show since, but have been unable to find anything additional.

Did anyone else see the program ?
Does anyone know where I can find more information similar to what I described?

I am extremely curious to find out if the researchers had to go seek the poltergeist or if they were able to contain one.

It seems that a popular belief is that poltergeist are the products of living people, most often adolescent girls. But, this research seems to be contrary to that belief.

Try asking Asala about this...

Most cases of poltergeist activity do happen around young children, and in emotional stimuli... Numerous research studies back this up (as well as personal experience). The only way they could get this to work for them, is to gain control of the child. However, as the child isn't consciously directing it (but subconsciously), it's easier to cease the activity, than to try and control the subconscious....

This is not to say that there aren't entities capable of manifesting themselves enough to move things...but the accounts of such tend to be rare in the extreme, without a small child present.

strigoi,

otherwise we would be speaking Russian now and slaving for a lot less money than we now make.
I can't understand how anyone in the first world can support their brand of socialism?
can you?

AZL,
Yes, I saw that about 2 months ago on Tuesday Declassified on SciFi. They claimed it was poltergeist, however, I highly doubt it. Ghostly, psychic engery whatever, but not pg. PG is definitely brought on by a person, and generally it is adolecent females.

However, the show was quite interesting.

That is good news. I will be on the look out for it, the original show where I saw this aired several years ago.
Maybe Declassified will have additional insites that I missed the first time.
