Definition: Renaissance Man

Renaissance man
n 1: a modern scholar who is in a position to acquire more than
superficial knowledge about many different interests;

With that, would we consider Paul McCartney to be a modern day renaissance man. His musical talent is second to nobody, he is an established writer. Just finished publishing a childs book, As an artist he is also well gifted.

My one knock of Paul is he was not as vocal as Lennon was regarding social reform and trying to make a difference. However his talents are unmatched; Is he Timeless? Could he be labeled as a modern day Renaissance Man?

Agreed.

As far as this quote goes:

That's probably why Paul is still alive enjoying his billions and wasn't the target of a mind controlled assassin.

*runs and hides after the "mind controlled assassin" part*

Peace

McCartney is a hack. I didn't realize it until the split up of The Beatles, but Lennon was the true musical genius and he was also an artist and poet. In terms of The Beatles success, we can't discount the influences of Brian Epstein and George Martin.

It is my belief that if Lennon had lived, he would be a much better candidate for your Renaissance Man.

I dont think i have to try hard for you to understand I am right with you on that one. I have some great portraits of Lennon hanging in my living room, When i moved in with my gf i had some compromises but I would not budge with those

McCartney is a hack

Lets not take away from what the man has accomplished, I am more of a Lennon fan, But Paul still ranks up their for me all time.
If anyone has not seen his DVD, Paul McCartney - Back in the USA

Got to disagree Grady!

I'd bet if Lennon were stilll alive he'd give it up to McCartney as the true musical genius. That certainly doesn't take anything away from Lennon. Lennon and McCartney created magic together. McCartney was Peaches to Lennon's Herb, McCartney was Captain to Lennon's Tenille................please somebody stop me!
Look at McCartney's career for cryin' out loud. Look at all the number 1s he had on his own. Look at the longevity. He was even able to produce hits with his wife gravytraining Wings.

There will never be another McCartney or Lennon.

Peace
