I feel that the meaning behind this can be percieved in many ways, by many a people. I wasn't quite sure where to put this, so I figured this was probably the best place to start. For me it gives an open ended expression of how I feel towards many various aspects of government, conspiracies, tragedies and just plane being a proud but cautious American, make of it what you wish.

In a forest of millions of trees, in a clearing set apart from all the rest, stood a beautiful and most magnificent Pine tree, with branches so tall they seemed to reach the sky. In all the storms and disasters that seemed to prevail in the forest, this Pine never wavered, standing straight and tall even in the fiercest of winds. All the birds of the forest came to its branches for shelter and comfort. With all their weight upon the mighty Pines limbs, they never once faltered. It was a symbol of strength and immortality to all the rest of the trees in the forest.

Then one day a Woodpecker landed on the Pines branches and pecked away until finally, its life cut short, the mighty Pine fell to the ground with a sound heard through-out the forest, causing sadness and despair. Then suddenly out of the sky came an enraged Hawk who in turn quickly and silently devoured the Woodpecker and with a triumphant screech, he soared back into the sky only to be grasped in the strong talons of the great American Eagle..justice had been done. But what of the forest now? How could they survive without the strength and wisdom of their mighty Pine?

Soon there stood another tree in the clearing, not as tall perhapsnor as strong, but willing just the same to take its place in the seat of authority. Once more the birds flew to the branches for shelter but if you looked a little closer, you would see its limbs bend, see it begin to tremble, unable to with-stand the weight now thrust upon its branches. This tree had not the strength of its predecessor and soon it died only to have another take its place. But once more there were problems in the forest, this tree had not grown quite as straight as the rest and soon it began to rot around the base of its trunk and had to be removed from the forest. Now once again a new tree is standing in the clearing. But somehow all the birds are hesitant to use its branches, for they do not know if they offer the shelter they need. The forest now stands in anticipation, for the future depends on this new arrival and only time will tell whether it will survive or be the cause of a forest ruin.
