"BAGHDAD, Iraq, Sept. 20 � Aquila al-Hashimi, one of three women members of Iraq�s Governing Council, was shot in the abdomen and critically wounded Saturday in an assassination attempt outside her home in west Baghdad, police and doctors said. Earlier, U.S. tanks and armored fighting vehicles moved through Saddam Hussein�s hometown and its outskirts in a show of force following a coordinated ambush against American forces that killed three soldiers and wounded two."
