max, you do realize that these are the same people that were resisting the germans for 5 years before we finally we able to liberate them? do you realize how much courage it must have taken to continue resisting when all of your friends were being rounded up and shot, or sent to concentration camps?

these are also the same people who intervened on our behalf to stop the british blockade of our newly founded country. if not for the french, we would still be paying homage to the crown.

do i agree with some of their policies? no. am i pissed at their government for not backing us in iraq? to a degree, yes. do i believe that they should be alot more proactive in dealing with these riots? definitely. but i'm able to give my opinion in the matter without resorting to name calling.

I think Max was dissapointed the last time he went to Eurodisney, and Paris. He didn't get to go to le Louvre, and he messed up with the menu and got the wrong food on his plate.

So there we were at 2:30 in the morning; I was beginning to wish I had never come to cadet training school. To the south lay water -- there was no way we could cross that. To the east and west two armies squeezed us in a pincer. The only way was north; I had to go for it and pray the Gods were smiling on me. I picked up the dice and threw two sixes. Caldecott couldn't believe it. My go again; another two sixes!

I picked up the dice again... Unbelievable! Another two sixes!

Then -- disaster! I threw a two and a three; Caldecott picked up the dice and threw snake eyes -- I was still in it.

Anyway, to cut a long story short I threw a five and a four which beat his three and a two, another double six followed by a double four and a double five. After he'd thrown a three and a two I threw a six and a three. (I jotted it down in my Risk campaign book. I always used to do that so I could replay my moments of glory over a glass of brandy in the sleeping quarters. I ask you, what better way is there to spend a Saturday night?)

So a six and a three and he came back with a three and a two. After he'd thrown a three and a two and I'd thrown a four and a one. I picked up the dice...

I threw a five and a two! Which it got me into Irkutsk.

Is this ok here? Hey, it's as close to active service as LA has ever got. I wanna live out my fantasies here too!

if it escalates to a war, which is still a possibility, imagine they torched the wrong building the wrong way, 100+ people could die in a heartbeat, then retailiation would be imminent, noone could possibly stop it, since the both sides have reason to claim they've been betrayed: the muslims by some of their clerics, who condemned their actions, the natives because the government, which is alledgedly there to protect, only cares what the media and rioters believe and about politically viable ways of giving in

in short, the cat's there, dunno if it gets out of the bag, but if it does, people will demand an explanation why the gov't let it escalate, much in the same way the world wondered why the alledgedly skilled French army never kept any reserves to counter a German breakthrough in WW2. this is not a video game, if you f*ck uo, there's no backup, and you're not just losing 'credits' in this game either.

You have a point there JJ, but the illegal aliens are not rioting, looting and burning private property. Theres quite a difference between these situations. My main point was that these French guys better reach down and grab a pair if they want their French culture to survive the next 5 years.
