Fishy
I am a mouth
I am a gaping fish
Free I swim
forgetting how to open or close
these connective tissues of heart,
lips and lungs
I am amphibious
slippery green with crystal eyes of magenta
the rock is my home
and so is the water
Touch me this way
and my mouth opens sweet and timid
tender tulip, blushing rosebud
sweet 16 and sour honeysuckle
White and soft
I am a lily
spread open upon the valley
of your promises
Tell me lies
and my lips will squeeze you
with the strength of an anaconda
No. Harder!
For I am more
unforgiving
and unmerciful
than nature
Without want, I am eternal
opening and closing like a constant flower
my leaves and petals pointing
toward your sun
You do not live among fish
so you do not know my secret
But… I cannot breathe
underwater
