I thought I'd show you all some progress to the painting sitting on the easel in page 1 of this thread.

It's far from finished yet...but this is in natural north light.

Here's the latest two paintings in the same theme...and some details of the second.

I'm hoping to stay within the frame of rock art dating back at least 35,000 years, using the same entoptic backgrounds and therianthropic creatures as modern Homo Sapiens did and complete a series of up to a dozen paintings

How on earth do I miss threads like this, I'm really liking the painting you've been doing masqua, there is such a variation in the styles from the colours to the content, each painting is something new to catch the eye.

The painting of Deventer is my favourite, the mix of colours, the white walls and orange roof tiles that are so often seen in continental Europe go well together and the little cat gives it that feel of warm sunny Europe, with cats walking lazily around the quiet streets.

Thanks, Wiz...I've been ignoring this thread for too long.

Deventer shows the house I lived in for 5 years after I was born, so it's really important to me.

Soon, I'll be posting a lot more images of my work on this thread. I was initially a little hesitant to put much in (don't really know why), but there are well over 200 paintings and drawings which I've yet to photograph.

Dang...I hope your eyes are OK now. I had no idea my art could do that

On the 'making money' part...I had high hopes after coming out of a very good art school, but then I married, had kids, watched them grow from little gnomes to men, sent them to university, etc, etc.

That all took money which I had no hope of making from painting, so I knuckled down and got a 'day job' to pay for it all. 36 years later, I have managed to keep at it and now I'm retired...

Maybe now I can think about making it my second career. In fact, my first 'real' show is scheduled for July 2007 and I'm working on a series of paintings just for that.

The one I'm working on right now is surprising even me. It's amazing how quickly we improve when we put all our concentration into one thing.

I have seen folks with far less talent and drive than you make a living at art. It constantly amazes me how fate can be so fickle and bestow fame and riches on someone with seeming mediocre talent, then totally ignore one like you who truly has the right stuff. I sure hope you find a wide and receptive audience with deep pockets.

I just discovered this thread.

I must say, masqua, I knew you were an artist.
But, I never knew how good you are.
