GREECE - A cat recently gave birth to a cyclops. The birth of the one-eyed-cat confirms that it is biologically possible for beings with one eye to exist. Ancient Greek myths often mentioned large beings that descended from the gods which had only one eye.

Fascinating!! Though it was still born, it looks as if it was mostly a full term kitten.
I hope they may do an autopsy to figures this one out, or should it be stuffed?

I wonder if it is related to The Two Tongue Cat?

TPL, the cyclops was still born.

One of the really wierd things (besides the one eye) is that the eye is open. Usually kittens don't open their eyes until they are at least 9 days old and it says that this kitten is "still born" which of course means it was born dead. I don't know, it looks really strange to me.

wow thats freaky looking I wonder if the eye was functional. I remember seeing a fly they made in a genetics labs that had eyes all over its body but they did not function.

IMHO, its just another deformity. be it strange, i don't think it's cause for alarm.

Good lord thats a scary image!

But its not proof of anything.. Actually its a normal birth defect for kittens born from a mother which is on P-pills.

That is a birth defect, and one that is possible in humans as well as other animals. I believe it is a result of the brain not developing the two hemispheres that it normally has. At the point that division should have occured, something went wrong. ( The Discovery Health channel recently mentioned this in one of their programs.)

Something like that might have occured back in the day, and could have given rise to the mythology of the cyclops......even if an infant with that defect were stillborn, those who witnessed the birth would have probably accused the poor mother of consorting with some kind of monster.

i also think the eye looks so weird. 1stly there no proper structure a eye shoud consist can found on that picture?i mean, its just like a plastic bubble or something not organic. and just take a look of the spheric geometry, does a eye ball suppose to be so large that aprox approximately half volume of the skull, its dosent make sense.

Ermmm, no.
There is no way that a medical abnormality can even be construed or conveyed as proof for the existence of gods, specifically the ancient mythology of the Greek gods.

That would be like saying that man and woman, and the birth process thereof, give proof to the existence of God, Allah, etc.

I thought so, too, at first, but then I wondered if they had forced open the eye after the kitten was born. You'll notice that the eye seems to be underdeveloped.

Poor thing. It's better that it was born dead.

maybe this shows that a human cyclopses were born in greek times and because of this deformity he was told to live in solitude, to keep people away they were told he was a mythical creature that could kill them, maybe

I think this type of scenario could be the origin of alot of myths about Trolls or creatures like Grendel in Beowulf.

first off i think these photos are fake because for one where was this one-eyed kitten born second if you go to the website that has other pics and then view them and then ask yourself who's hand is that, is that a doctors hand and who is that docter. finally couldn't that picture be photoshop??? to me that picture looks like it was photoshoped and secondly i think i could have made a better picture and make it more belivable.
SO I SAY THIS ONE-EYED KITTEN IS A FAKE

Why is it so oddly out of proportion? Looks like a human eye on a kitten's body. Crazy.

Wait a minute... why is the eye where it's chin should be? Cats are quadripedal, so it's head should be not facing the same way as it's stomach. Because only humans have this.

I dunno though. Don't know enough about cats to say.
