I wonder if this could be a restructured SCS. Regardless, times are a-changing fast. Most intriguing this is.

I'm not neccessarily a big fan of increasing the "intelligence" beurocracy, however....

It seems that this agencies main mission is to over see the HUMINT (Human Intelligence) gathering for the various intelligence agencies in the US. Right now, there have been cases of various intelligence agencies stepping on each other's toes, inadvertantly investigating each other's agents, inadvertantly interfereing with another agencies ongoing investigation, etc, etc, etc...

This agency, if it performs as stated, could eliminate some of these duplicated and wasted efforts. That is, if it isn't used by the politicians to spy on each other, or their constituents.

This HUMINT, would presumably be shared with the intelligence community as needed. This is both good and bad news. The good news is that there could potentially be better intelligence as all these competing agencies now are able to pool their monetary and technical resources (in regards to HUMINT). The bad news is that the HUMINT would be coming from one source (instead of multiple agencies) , so if it got "tainted" at that source (through political bias, or not diversifying their HUMINT sources enough), there would be no checks or balances to clear up any false intel.

This is something to watch closely (but do I really need to mention that on THIS board? lol)

Hmm. Now that's a good thought. Better than my Gonzales guess. When you think about it, Gonzales is just a tool - he'll put together the legal package according to specs, but he can't create the specs.

Now Cheney. He's a master string puller gameplayer.

Sounds like a good call Gools

I see it took Porter Goss and his new team of super secret sleuths only two months to start making noise: CIA Director Porter Goss: Iran Has Nukes

Goss... brought secret data about Iran as he met with officials of the Milli Istihbarat Teskilati...

Foreign government officials get to see the super secret data proving Iran actually has nukes but we don't? We are to take their word for it? Like centrifuge tubes and the Niger yellowcake story?

Exactly!

And it has been in the works for some time. In RATS there is a thread about;

US planning to recruit one in 24 Americans as citizen spies...
The Bush Administration aims to recruit millions of United States citizens as domestic informants in a program likely to alarm civil liberties groups.

The creation of a US "shadow government", operating in secret, was another Reagan national security initiative.

Citizen spies

And another article from a different source;

The Patriot Act already provides for a person's home to be searched without that person being informed that a search was ever performed, or of any surveillance devices that were implanted.

The Sydney Morning Herald

Can any one say EAST GERMANY?!

Now to just wait and see, in which direction the wall falls...
