That picture of the BUFF with the drag chute deployed brings back bad memories. I used to HATE that thing. They'd land, and deploy it, and stop
before the half way point of the runway. The only place to turn around though was the high speed turnoff, so they'd have to taxi down to where we
were waiting, and as they turned they'd pop the chute. We'd have to drag it into the back of a truck to take it back with us. That thing was
HEAVY. On the end that attached to the plane there was this HUGE metal brace that attached inside the airframe that weighed some god awful number of
pounds. And of course despite the fact that they were landing on a 10,000 foot long runway, they HAD to pop the chute, because regulations required
it.
