I disagree, nyeff.

They wouldnt have. After seeing what happened to the other three planes that were hijacked, what happened to the pentagon and the WTC, and the thousands of lives lost, and the horror of the images on TV, No, they would have understood. Anyone who complained would create a public outcry. because we knew that that plane was going to be used to kill hundreds, maybe thousands more on the ground. The lawsuits would get thrown out of court really quick. national security. One plane full of people who are gonna die anyway, compared to the thousands on the ground that dont necessarily have to die, who can be saved if that plane was taken down?

No, the govornment covers up the shootdown for other reasons.

Oh I'm quite sure the ACLU would have something to say about it.
They always do.

But I think there were other reasons as well. If there were lawsuits, then there would be digging into everything that happened that day.

Regardless of any other questions, this one still remains of prime importance: Since it is the SOP to have air patrols *in the air* on a 24/7 basis & to have pilots *on alert* sitting inside their cockpits, why was that SOP violated to so much of an extent *during that time-frame* so that those highjacked jets made it to their targets?

The SOP should never have been able to degenerate at *any time*, let alone during the short time frame that those jets were hijacked.

Is it really such a coincidence that those relatively *few* key personnel who were in charge at that time had *all* made the *right mistakes at the right time* to allow those jets to reach those targets? What are the odds against such a combination of mistakes happened "by accident"?

It is about as good a time as any te introduce the old story of how on 9/11, things didn't get mobilized as they should have in part because (according to the story) there was a training run for what ough to happen in a hijack situation with multiple aircraft near big cities.

That story has kind of been spiked (withdrawn) but I have never seen it adequately debunked.

Has anyone else read about that, that cares to throw in their support or a few well aimed brickbats?

Not it has not been debunked it is true - there were several exercises happening on that day -

Operation Northern Vigilance
The Vigilant Warrior and Vigilant Guardian Training Exercises
The Global Guardian Exercise
The National Reconnaissance Office Plane Crash Drill
The Timely Alert II Terrorism Drill
The Tripod II Biowarfare Exercise

That stopped being SOP in the early 90s after the fall of the Soviet Union.
