There have been a number of Israeli ambassadors around the globe getting a dressing down in the past few days.

Israel came under concerted criticism in the United Nations Security Council and in several capitals around the world yesterday for threatening to remove Yasser Arafat from the Middle East peace process, a policy that a cabinet member suggested could extend to killing him.

In a day-long special debate on the Middle East, Security Council members lined up to urge Israel to reconsider its stance. The government of Ariel Sharon was also asked by several speakers to end its policy of extrajudicial assassination of militant Palestinian leaders.

The council was considering whether to vote on a resolution drafted by Arab states demanding Israeli restraint with regard to the Palestinian leader. Hopes for its quick adoption were overshadowed by the threat of a United States veto. Washington has historically resisted resolutions that are critical of Israel.

John Negroponte, the US ambassador, said it had told Israel that it would not support the "elimination of Mr Arafat" or his forced exile. But he added that he would not support a resolution that failed to condemn the "explicit threat to the Middle East peace process posed by Hamas and other such terror groups".

Wasn't aware of what the "Housing Minister" had said. Seems to have about as much brains as the people in charge of housing in the US do. I suppose that's why it's a nice thing that what he says doesn't mean much in the strategic planning of the government in issues outside of housing. Israel has a major problem with minor officials babbling stupidly on the international stage.

Well Deputy Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert is no minor official and he does have influence in strategic planning of government issues.

This is all talk, no action.. by both 'sides'.

The Israelis dont dare to do it and if Israelis storm the HQ Mr.Arafat is first one to come peacefully out with his hands in the air.
Because he doesnt got what it takes to become a 'martyr'.

Yes dude. The only way I can see the Israelis taking him out is if they had "crossed dibs" first. But Arafat's "white rabbit no returns" means that he should be safe.
Of course this all probably started with "Ip Dip Dog #, You Are Not It" and Arafat moved his foot at the critical moment.
So maybe the Israelis can call him names, take the ball and bugger off home.
