The US media is actually close to truth within the first day!!!!! WOW!!!
Yeah that is a huge earthquake and i wish people didnt get hurt but thats the way earth is ya know....
--Rikimaru--God see's you and OBL and any other guy as perfect equals.
The only idiot that will tell you to make fun of others and be selfish and greedy and not care...........isnt god. So for 1 you are getting 7 times what they did for that because god told us to pluck the plank out of our eye before attempting the splinter in anothers. Basically you are a sinner and have as much chance of hell as those eastern folk you talk bad about so that alone makes god angry. Then you go away from the computer, and i'll wager that you go and do some stuff that god would annihilate you for, on the spot, if he was standing here....so why go hypocrite any other sinner when you are you?--
Sorry for turning earthquake into a stupid post about god but i really think its bad to say that those 1000+ dead deserve it and that we shouldnt care.
One day the us and other countries will get some bad disasters and if we keep track of the world then we can predict and prepare better.

(I Am sorry you guys for feeding but i had one last troll biscuit left and i just had to!!!) Now im all out
damn now the troll has to starve.

FOX just said the same thing...what a shame!

It appears to be getting worse BBC alert just raised the figure to over 400 think it was around 450 but to be safe will state the lower number until confirmed by other sources and we have to keep in mind this is just "One school". I hate to say this but I fear the toll may be well over two thousand if not more

Its already confirmed as being over 2000.

More than 2,000 people were killed in both nations, and a Pakistan army spokesman called the devastation "a national tragedy." In the capitals of Pakistan, India and Afghanistan,

I am well aware of that. Had you paid attention to what I and DJ wrote you should have noted we were just talking about the school and not the area as a whole

Regardless of Rikamaru's comments which seem to have fostered a great deal of anger with members, I beleive this earthquake was very deliterious to Pakistan economicaly, and socially, among other aspects; however, it does give this country the oppurtunity to galavanize it's resources and work closely with India as Kasmir was also devasted. This gives both countries the proper forum to work together to rebuild a part of of thier decades long struggle against each other.

We can only hope that the international community will help aswell, Pakistan did, may I add, assist America with this war on terror of thiers.

So sad,

UK teams are already on there way to help rescue those who are trapped

Foreign Secretary Jack Straw has said £100,000 and up to 60 disaster relief staff are being sent out to the affected region.

He said: "Of those, 50 are medical staff, search and rescue staff and other people who can assist directly in the emergency situation.

What you wrote was very touching your very good sole to give statement like that, I just want to add that A Nation is controlled by politicians and the people are not responsible to any doing that causes hate to another nation they are humans that have no control but only the freedom speech and action (in most countries) so when a leader decides that a country should go to war it then does not mean that the whole nation is to blame, the mistakes done by politicians ambitions should not be blamed on people. When a natural disaster happens then we should not make quarrels on who is powerful but believe that we are equal in reaching our hand out for comfort and help, those ideologies that believed that they are the only race of power will be doomed affront of god there is no power more power full then “THEY GOD WHO CREATED MANKIND” not we created god and all living, one example Hitler and the Nazi who hated mankind they are now no more.

lets see if dopey W learned his leeson about slow response times to the tsunami and katrina, and if he is on TV tomorrow with a pledge of aid for the victims.

I doubt it, but there is always hope

“For every adversity there is the seed to equivalent or greater benefit”.

In times of trouble it is sometimes hard to figure out what the grand plan is and what we can learn from tragedy. I do however agree with your comments that it is through hardship that we most often learn and are afforded the opportunity to show true compassion. To mend bridges that have previously been fractured. Let us just hope and pray that as a result of this tragedy some level of harmony will ensue.

shots, you said it may be over two thousand, I said it already is confirmed as over two thousand. Must the pedantics continue???

Is any one else entirely unimpressed with the British response? £10,000 is a slap in the face compared to the response to Katrina. The food aid (NATO rations) alone cost millions of pounds. I think these third world countries need more aid than the World's richest nation.

CNN: Pakistan puts quake toll at 18,000

More than 18,000 dead and 41,000 injured.
These numbers could still climb higher...

If the rescue efforst don't go into full-gear in the next couple of days, I have feeling the death toll will easily climb 50,000...
There are thousands people trapped in rubble over there, as we speak..
If help doesn't get to them in the next week, they'll die for sure..
All rescue crews...Godspeed

Rikimaru may not have meant what he posted..
I'm sure he feels pain for the innocents who have died..
No doubt the "non-innocents" will have died as well; the epicentre was bang in the centre of Pakistan occupied Kashmir..
Still, this is no time to distinguish between them..
We here in India convey our condolences..

According to FOX & Friends, there are 30,000 dead just in the Pakistan-controlled region of Kashmir. If true, then the total death toll must be way over 50,000 for the entire region...

The USGS is now reporting the initial quake was 7.7, not 7.6:

USGS: Magnitude 7.7 - PAKISTAN - 2005 October 8 03:50:38 UTC
