Israel retaliates against Gaza

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip -- Israel launched a "crushing" retaliation Saturday against Hamas in Gaza with deadly airstrikes, troops massed at the border and a planned ground incursion after militants fired 35 rockets at Israeli towns -- their first major attack since the Gaza pullout.
Israeli aircraft pounded suspected weapons facilities and other militant targets throughout the Gaza Strip late Saturday and early today, wounding at least 19 people, Palestinian officials said. Earlier, Israeli aircraft fired missiles at cars carrying militants in Gaza City, killing two Hamas militants.

So the Israelis haven't been gone but five minutes and they are already trying to reclaim the land.

Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz told security chiefs in a meeting that "the ground of Gaza should shake" and that he wanted to exact a high price from Palestinians everywhere, not just the militants, participants said.

This land is like 1/10 the size of Connecticut and yet thousands are willing to die for it year after year in senseless violence because of what? The UN split Israel away from Palestine because UN is all righteous and smart?

Yeah thats right, they went through all the problems of abandoning it, just because they were bored and wanted to have a war to retake it.

Rather the headline should be 'within days of having their land returned to them, the palestinians step-up their war efforts against israel".

HEH. You can't blame them for shooting rockets into the Israel troops. It's just plain old cockiness. Especially when you get something without even fighting for it. You'd tend to want more and shake your you-know-what at the losers. Though, Hamas' determination to continue attacking the Israel troops seems rather stupid to me.

Why shoot at them when they're just about to step out of the door? Let them leave. Regroup and rearm. Then you kick their @$$!
