With support across party lines, chief justice nominee John Roberts was confirmed Thursday as President Bush’s selection to replace the late
William H. Rehnquist.
Roberts is taking his place as the next leader of the Supreme Court, with a commanding majority of the Senate backing him to lead the court through
turbulent social issues that will affect generations to come.

As was expected Judge Roberts was confirmed. I personally was surprised that he received as many yes votes from across the aisle as he did. The real
fight will be over the replacement for Justice O’Connor.
