Considering that I posted my guess about a month or so ago. I think I did a good job, all things considered. Not to mention the amount of time that the site was down since then has lost us about 1000 post, by my guess..maybe more. So, all things considered...pretty good.

I go by the Forum front page feature, not by the most recent post number.

As ILP may have correctly surmised in ATS Chat, the official count on the front page may ignore things like Cosmic, or it may remove posts that no longer exist for whatever reason.

So that must be the official count, - not the last ordinal registration number that appears for any new post as a mere identification mark.

The same is true for any database.

(Such controversy......!!!!!!)

I predict the 200,000th post will be on Friday, October 03, 2003 at around 1:30 am or so.

The ordinal post number that appears on every post has been repaired to reflect the true number of posts as displayed on the counter on the front Forum page.

(That's my assessment of events anyway)!

They are one and the same now.

Why did the post numbers change? Last night there was only 440 until 200,000.

I object to the post numbers changing.

The 200,000th post was mulberryblueshimmer's post about Arnie, on page one of this thread:

It was at 6.16AM GMT 4 October.

That's a staggeringly long 65 minutes after my predicted time. (posted on 28-9-2003 Post Number: 192430)

I hope no-one managed to get any closer.
