I've got a question for everyone? My mother is, in her family, the 7th sister of the 7th sister. She is a fairly religous woman with what I believe are psychic abilities. From time to time she has had exp. that have really shook me. Dreams of future events and the like. Out of body exp. occur frequently with her as well.

About 3yrs ago, she was walking out in the yard and looked up at this big tree and noticed, now bear with me, a portal. She said it looked like a door that was hanging about 3ft off the ground and had some kind of color or fire flowing out or down the bottom of the door. When she went to tell my dad about it, it was gone. I asked her why didnt you go up to it? She said it just felt wrong or evil maybe.

There have been times she has woke up out of her sleep and was floating in her bedroom. She has alot of spiratual dreams, such as flying with angels, or talking with figures from the bible about future events. It does sound overwhelming guys, but I've been around this for 28yrs. She has no reason to lie, and I know she would'nt. One of her other sisters has had these kind of dreams for as long as mom can remember, and she writes hers down.

Anyways, I kinda feel that mom may have something else going on with her that she is not fully tapping into or she feels it would be wrong to. She is firmly a christian who feels tampering with otherwordly things are wrong, but what does everyone feel here?

Thanks for all your replys

I think genes play a part, and in school they said genes and environment were about equally responsible for ones traits. I have had those dreams too, not many, but the few I had were exact in detail to what I later saw.
I agree with her that it is not a thing to toy with, and I prefer to let it happen rather than pursue it. There are many people who have these kinds of experiences, and most of the ones I know wish they didn't. The scorn, ridicule, insults, and scoffs are too distressing. Most people give them two options, they are delusional, or liars. I know neither is true in some cases. And it is comforting when I find others who know that too.

I am a firm believer that it is passed down from generation to generation, as I have stated in a couple of my threads, my mom had quite a few experiences, my father has had experiences, and all three of us have experiences as well. My mom would have visions, and it actually has prevented me from possible death. I don't know how many of you remeber the Long Island RailrFlashback: Long Island Railroad Massacreoad shooting I think it happened 1992-93.

I was supposed to be on that train, but right when I had my bags packed and I was ready to go, she begged me not to leave, I was 16 at the time, and a bit strong willed so after fighting about this for sometime, I decided not to go. That was the day and the train I would have been on.

My grandma and my mom were both psychic. To this day I belive they both knew things that no one else could have possibly known.

i also believe that certain 'lineages' are more prone to paranormal activity than others. its sort of like having a natural knack for athletics, or artistic ability in my opinion.

i do also believe that environmental factors can sterilize these natural abilities i.e. cultural standards or lack of use.

my mother doesn't have any premonitions per se, but she does have the best intuition i have seen in anyone. i myself have those feelings but i was brought up in a very sterile environment where none of that was encouraged or even talked about. it wasn't until i was older that i learned to listen to that intuition and to let it happen.

Yes, I agree too about this, in my case is not like this exactly, my mom for example the only "habilitie" she has is to judje people inmediatly, she confesed it to me after some months of chatting about this stuff, but she contiune saying that is just observation hability (I dont think so). My problem is that I dont know ANYTHING of my family! Believe it or not but my grand parents came to Uruguay fleeing from wars or hunger in Europe or becuase of family problem so I dont know much about them. But I know that one of my ancestors, a woman, seems to have had healing powers or the like, she was treated like angel in his village in Spain and was buried with the childs in the sementery (not very common, only for pure people) So, we think that MAYBE we have some psychic stuff in the family just that is considered Tabu because of the Catholic origin and ignorance. Is sad is not?

Thank you for your ideas. One question that I have concerns the fact of her being the 7th sister of the 7th sister? Are there any members of the psychic nature that may have anything on the validity of this?

I seem to have heard something about it once before but not on here I don't think. Also, how about the doorway I spoke of? Any guesses??

My father has 18 brothers and sisters and, as a result, one of my uncles is the seventh son of the seventh son. As a result of this chance of birth, he is supposed to have numerous paranormal abilities, including second sight, the ability to predict the future and the ability to work powerful magics intuitively. I have heard my aunts and uncles refer to him as a seer and my father always told me that being the seventh son of the seventh son was a really big deal in Irish families. Let me assure you, however, that as far as I have seen, my uncle possesses no paranormal abilities, despite his portentous birth.

I have never encountered a female version of the legend, although I am not surprised to find that one exists. This site is about the only one I could find that references the belief without talking about the Iron Maiden album.

So to answer your question, yes, the whole "seventh son (or daughter, I guess) of a seventh son" belief is quite real, although its validity is open to doubt in my opinion.

quite a few families who came over from europe and germany, & france the european countries included seem to have brought with them gifted lineage passed down through the family bloodlines, I know I got a mix of family from both german & french and some cherokee to, I know a good majority of family on my dad's side of the family seem to be gifted intuitives and empaths and even a "witch" who was hung in salem, mass during the wrongful witch trials. So I'd say there are a good majority of families out in the world who have gifted ones within their bloodlines or lineage.

Guns and Roses opened for them and blew them away. Anyway, I agree with everyone, just like any other trait, these talents are most likely passed from gen. to gen. I don't know which side of my family I got my unnerving and totally undeveloped, and uncontrolled psychic ability, which they call precognition. You see the future, in a dream, but since you have other dreams, you don't ever know which ones are the precognitive ones. Kind of useless really, but it sure makes you sit up and take notice when one plays out later. I know that my dad's side had a hypnotist, but thats about it. No wonder I don't have a clue about this stuff.
